PhotoDune Photo Manipulation Competition Winners Announced!

Earlier this month, we celebrated the launch of PhotoDune, Envato’s new stock photography marketplace by tasking you to create a photo manipulation using several stock photos provided by generous members of the PhotoDune community. After scouring the submissions, and judging them carefully, we are now ready to announce the winners.

1st Place: MVP Hamster

Congratulations to Alexander Buhler! You have won $100 in PhotoDune Credits and a 1-year premium membership to Tuts+.

2nd Place: Hamster Wrestling Noodles

Congratulations to Marten Beerda! You have won $75 in PhotoDune Credits.

3rd Place: Hambo

Congratulations to Jayson Lotriet! You have won an Envato t-shirt.

Thanks to all the PhotoDune authors who generously donated their images to us for the duration of the competition. Please take a moment to review their portfolios.

Boost Your Income with PhotoDune

Envato’s top authors make between $20,000 and $40,000 per month selling stock! Imagine shooting the images you want, when you want, making passive income whether you’re working or not. Some of our authors sell stock in their free time as a hobby, some do it to get their name out there, and some are able to make it their full time profession.

PhotoDune has an amazing community of photographers, and is the perfect place to sell your images as stock photography. Whether you’re completely new to the concept, or already have a catalog of thousands of images — we think you’ll find the site a pleasure to use. A few good places to start might be look at the top selling images, checking out our author guide, or dropping by the forums.

If you’re ready to learn more, take a look at how to sell your work on PhotoDune. Thanks so much!

The first place isn’t too good cuz we have lockout in the NBA.
    By the way, fine competition.

  • http://rosscoh.com Ross cohen

Will you post other ones? Maybe the runner ups so we can see what other designs were submitted?

  • Jack

1st place must be hard to do. I guess it doesn’t win becouse evanto logo :-/

  • Zeplix

    Sorta dissapointed in the winners…

I would love to see the other submissions! Any chance you could make a post showing all the ones you recieved?

  • http://cute0designer.deviantart.com/ Taha

    are you kiddin’ me ??!
bad shadows bad blending bad with the light even bad cropping for a white background, you can’t even call it a manipulation, really you can’t

i just want to see the other works so i can tell this is the best
anyway congratulation for who won this thing

    • Infected

      Totally agree with you.
The first place is okay from a professional point of view – but surely not too much effort and/or … “crazyness” in it.
Second and third place are plain weak…

    • http://indesigner.cz INDesigner

Yes, I agree with you, I wanna see other work, first one is kind of good – somple without idea, but good, but second one and third one is terrible, Its like made in MSPaint :D

  • brunelle

    i’m agree with Taha ! o_O

  • benksy

    That’s all?

  • http://www.ibrightdev.com Justin St. Germain

damn, i didnt realize that the competition ended so soon, i didnt get a chance to do mine. oh well, maybe next time. btw, the one that won second place is far better than the one who won first place, and really, the Hambo one is just plain bad. are those the only three that were submitted?

  • http://www.idesignit.co.il/ Elron

VMP is great! i think he won by justice.
Spaghetti hamster is a creative idea and i like it! but i dont see why parts of it are blured…?
Hambo’s good as well, but it doesnt looks so realistic…

    Great job everyone!
I’d like to see all the rest of the submissions!
    Elron

  • Alexander

It’s funny how people get upset because the winning submission, which in this case is mine, isn’t some world class design masterpiece.

Seriously guys, nobody claimed this is high standard design work. It’s all about having some fun messing around with a photo, packed together in a competition to motivate people with a small price.

I think there turned out some nice ideas and still somebody’s got to be the winner.
Still curious about the other submissions, though.

  • Michael

They should show everyone’s work, Im interested in looking at the other entries.

    • Edwin

i’m agree… i also want to see the others entries…

  • / Paolino Perpetuoni

Just because “nobody claimed this is high standard design work” and “It’s all about having some fun messing around with a photo, packed together in a competition to motivate people with a small price”, doesnt mean winners are allowed to do similar feces.
I’m pretty sure of the higher quality of other works that didn’t win.

  • Edwin

    REALLY?!

  • http://www.leplanb.fr Alain Bossuyt

    Hello.
I’d liked to see the other entries, if it’s possible… Just curious to see the other designers works :-)
Thanks for your goods and practible tuts !
    Live long and prosper :)

I don’t think the winner put much work in it to win, but who am i to judge. I should put cell phone in the hamsters hand or paw, and I guess I could have won also. Kinda disappointed in the winners, sorry to you who won, but also congrats on the win!

    • Alexander

It was the first idea which came to mind while I was taking a break, so I gave it a shot. Even if it didn’t take me too long, I had fun doing it.
Regarding this fact, I see no reason defending my work for beeing unspectacular or whatever people are calling it. Just join the next competition and we’ll surely see some more interesting results.

    Hooray for the winners!

    Here’s what I sent in:
    http://timrizzo.posterous.com/attack-of-the-hamster

It’s not perfect either, but time was a limiting factor here…

    • http://www.ibrightdev.com Justin St. Germain

see, i think that is better than the ones that actually won. it is for more interesting to me at least than a basketball hamster.

i feel like the people of the community should have voted to make the winner here

  • wsizoo

Honestly these are kind of pathetic. The winner may be ok, but the other two are terrible. THERE’S A CHUNK OF WHITE ON HIS FOOT!!! Come on guys. Clearly no one with any sense of perfection entered this competition. And the shadows FTW.

  • Mokka

    Hi guys!
    Here’s my entry:

Congrats to the winner, the MVP Hamster is really funny!

    • http://www.timrizzo.posterous.com Tim Rizzo

My favorite so far. Great Job! Technically perfect (ok, the wig could need a little more work), and really funny.

    • http://www.ibrightdev.com Justin St. Germain

this is pretty good actually. love it, and the concept.

      • Simon

Wow, some of these manipulation are beautiful. They are much better than the top three, I wonder how these guys won because it doesn’t make any sense.

  • http://www.highqualityprints.com/ High Quality Prints

All great photo manipulations, but def love the winning one the best. Nice job everyone!

  • siodre

congrats to the winners. this was my entry.

Didn’t use the hamster at all! :P

And I must say, several of the ones already posted are a lot better than the ones that won… not sure what the judges were thinking.

  • http://www.ennovates.com Aksh

I think the second winner is not that much good to get this award. I’m sorry for the words but I don’t think so
