I have to agree. The Gas Mask Poster was my favorite, I could even see thats as a poster for a upcoming movie or game cover that would make me research further to see what it's about.

ALL of these were great pieces of work.

So... when do you guys start the tutorials?

These type of tutorials would draw in lots of traffic since they are originally done by the members here. Hack... even if you make them plus only... id buy the subscription for member tuts instead of ones you can find on most blogs.

Just my 5 cents.

So I was just wondering, in a true post apocalyptic cityscape wouldn't there be hardly any city left? and kudos to horizonfire, in a situation in which humanity was instantly wiped out (i.e suddenly disappear) then what is depicted in his picture would become a reality.

Gz to all winners and runners up some truly amazing work there

Many congratulations to the winners! I entered the contest as well, and while I really didn't expect to win, it was great design exercise, not just designing myself, but taking cues from other designs submitted. It was excellent practice, and I hope that I'll be a lot more polished for the next contest to come!

Well, after reading through these comments, I really feel like I need to chime in. I have been a working designer for over 20 years, and as a person with design management experience, I have to say that there are many problems with the winning entries. The work itself is fantastic! It all looks really good. There are some basic typography issues, but I see that a lot, so I'm not going to harp on those. On the whole, the winners look great, but they don't work with the theme of the project. If you use a phrase like, "Extinction is not an option." then you need to have that concept illustrated in the piece, otherwise the imagery doesn't make any sense. Winners one and two show no struggle for life, extinction is not just an option, it's a reality! Entry three does show the continuance of life, but it violates the very first criteria. "In this movie the setting is a post-apocalyptic cityscape." Any entry not showing a cityscape should have been disqualified. If this was a real freelance piece then the client has the right to decide to modify the criteria after seeing what the designer has done. However, it's a contest, the criteria need to be adhered to be fair to all entrants. At the end of the day, the judges have the final say and they have spoken. End of sermon.
