    Top 3
    1. Lord of war is my favorite for difference.
    2. JP3 for simplicity.

    Really nice post cheers.

  5. Ralph DeLuca says:

I think these are some of the best examples of recent movie posters are. I am a collector of vintage movie posters, so I am more into the poster art of the 1920′s-50s. I would make an exception and actually buy some of these original movie posters.

    Cool Stuff

I know for a fact Shepard Fairey aka Obey did the walk the line poster and he has stated he does not know how to use photoshop or any program along those lines in an article i read on him awhile back. Love the poster thou.

    • Mike Wilson says:

Totally agreed. Several of these are clearly illustrated and not Photoshopped and/or it’s the Design of the poster rather then the Photoshop effect that makes the poster awesome. It should really have been called “50 Brilliant Movie Posters” and left it at that, but I guess the SEO value was too good to pass up.

  11. Meenu says:

  15. wOOW…. its verry nice poster…..

  16. Mike says:

well since pirates of the caribeans, fear and loathing in las vegas and probably LOTR are originally hand painted by Drew Struzan, you’re probably wrong about many of those being photoshop designs! specially the older ones!

  17. Darshan says:

    where is the photoshop ?

    show me this posters tutorials

  18. Darshan says:

i would show some posters tutorials!!!

  19. goe says:

    are ALL of these photoshopped?

  20. Dig Sweeney Todd… but thats probably because I love the movie! … some of them are very cliched though (not that the Sweeney Todd one is extraordinary)

  21. Cara Dixon says:

Love the ‘Batman Begins’ and the ‘Superman Returns’ posters! Both are really striking! Great post! Thanks for sharing!

  22. Wow, this is a great collection of poster. I’ve seen most of the movies, but the Lord of the Rings ones are the best in my view.

    Thanks for sharing.

  23. y says:

I hate the term “photoshopped” It is not a verb. It is an amazing tool that artists use to create great images, but without the artist it’s just a bunch bits and bytes. In fact, I think most artists want to stay away from their work looking “photoshoppped” at all.

  24. Martin says:

Good selection. They all are good, really good, but “Batman…” is without doubt the best, superb.
However, THANK YOU for the “Lord of War” gigantic poster, that’s the reson I’m here, best! =D

  25. Sangepu Ramesh says:

    Really Great Work.

  26. jproxs says:

  28. Oliver says:

    Great posters!

Now I saw this gig poster on facebook and I am so eager to learn how to do the effects on the photo. I just can’t seem to find the right tutorial about it. Any help would be appreciated. Here’s the link: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=192821150787830&set=a.171772822892663.41110.129734020429877&type=1&ref=nf

    Thanks!

  29. RobLGraphicD says:

Oliver give these steps a try:

    -Apply the filter Stylize>Glowing Egdes.

    -Desaturate the image.

(at this point the groundwork for the effect is there, depending on your image.)

    - Apply a gradient overlay with your desired colors to get the effect popping.

  30. geetha says:

Excellent list of movies many are my favs
i will just give it a try to make some of them on my own will be inspirational to create something new from these.

  31. Martin says:

Great collection, excellent work. I would have put the Spiderman 2 Poster instead of the poster from the third installement.

  32. irene says:

im pretty sure some of these have no photoshop at all, especially #30 which seems to be created entirely from illustrator.

  33. Darren says:

Incredible!! fantastic share , thank you

  34. Dougieladd says:

I agree with the first comment… how do they do it? How about… a series of movie poster tuts… Any pros out there who would like to share thier expertise?? :) My faves are Perfume, Daywatch, Deathproof/Planet Terror (bad film though Deathproof), 3:10 to Yuma (nice typography) and Walk the Line (great poster for print! amazing what you can do with three colours!) But they all have something to offer. Nice post.

  35. Adam Pominski says:

id love to be able to work these designers and just watch them at work on these posters

  36. Will says:

I have seen posters with effects much better than those guys.
There are some that rain has done very poorly in my opinion ..

  37. Love the collection. Recently I did a redesign for a few movie posters myself. You can check them out here :http://scotcheggmedia.wordpress.com/2011/09/02/mvpostrs/

  38. Brandon says:

    Best list topic to date!!!

  39. babu dundrapelly says:

Awesome Movie posters, i like these all are. thank u.

  40. Paul Weston says:

I love movie poster design and use it as a big inspiration when it comes to my design work for both print and web. I love the techniques that are used and the wide variety of design styles you find in poster design. I love the bold graphics within poster design and with the idea about grabbing peoples attention. I love the collection you have put together, I especially like the posters for death proof. I love the vintage feel and the use of typography. I also like the poster design for walk the line. The use of colour, graphic and typography work well together in producing a poster that stands out and is different from a lot of poster designs you see. This is a great collection and one that I will be using as a reference for my future design work.

  41. nice Movie posters…………………..

  42. Hussain says:

    woooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwww

  43. Tim says:

Why are you calling these “Photoshopped”? Photoshopped is NOT a verb. They are designed. And some of them were probably not even made with Photoshop.
Also, you give no reasoning why they are “brilliantly Photoshopped”. Give us your reasons beside just posting a bunch of images and making a blog title that is just like the thousands of list blog titles out there that try to grab web traffic.
God, I hate posts like this.

    • Phil says:

This. Tim, you’re 100% spot on… And the problem is the sheeple (like those commenting above) that mindlessly accept crap posts like this without questioning; perpetuating thoughtless and mislead posts like this.

I never comment on articles but this one got my ire up. I’m glad I’m not the only one that recognizes this as pure drivel.

    • Multifarious says:

Agreed 100%. For a second I thought it was just me being a grumpy old man.
the only thing I kept thinking was “Are there posters out there today NOT touched by photoshop? Because that really WOULD be an interesting set to see.”

As it is, I could have gotten this same set by just feeding “action science-fiction filmposter” to google. Actually, after checking my statement: what I got from Google was better by far.. Much better.

  44. Great compilations. My personal thought, Saw could also have featured here

  45. benokg says:

all of them perfectly from each other.. thank u. (:

  46. fatin says:

    how so great !!
hope i have chance learn to do it .
    :)

  47. Greg says:

    I’ll admit…it’s pretty good.

  48. Awesome collection!! Thank you for sharing!! Thanks to your tutorials I also extend my list of movies I have to see :)
