Kode Logic Interview
Kode Logic is a exceptionally talented designer with a variation of wonderful styles that please the viewer. Kode strives to indulge the viewers and stimulate them with his amazing art. As a 23 year old student Kode is currently in school and is planning to have a huge year in 09′ by releasing a lot more of his great art.
1. Welcome to Psdtuts! Please introduce yourself, give us a brief bio, tell us where you’re from, and how you got started in the field.
My Name is Kode A.; Melbourne Australia is where I’m from, 23 years old. I have always loved drawing, go look at all my school text books, you will see a picture of some sort on every page, thus making me bad at math and science but ultimately leading me to find my sanctuary in arts.
As for graphics and computer arts, I got to thank a past friend for showing me what Photoshop was, then the rest was history, building upon building of foundations and collaborations to gather all the skills my mind can handle. I can run BossLogic which is my freelance company. The doors to my mind are still open for business that means I got a whole lot more learning ahead of me and more people to collaborate with.
2. When looking at your art I can’t find one specific style that you constantly use. Every design has an amazing style that is different from the last, so why do you feel the need to try out many styles instead of sticking to one and mastering it?
I like to free-style, to me it’s like modern day poetry. Every one of them needs to be different but still flow the same if you know what I mean. I feel I need to change up the style in every photo to keep the viewer’s eye wanting to see more and to show that the designer’s canvas is a boundless foundation so why stick to one style?
3. “Melbourne city Screams” is an amazing design that gives off a certain dark vibe. Where did you get the idea to create a piece like this? Also, walk us through the completion of the design.
Well I love the night and I love Melbourne Australia, and the movie “The Spirit’s” depiction of the night was spot on, so I mixed the two visions together and I got what you know as “My city screams.” So with the photo of flinders street station, a place that anyone who goes to Melbourne would know, and added a mysterious figure on top of it, in the pouring rain.
4. Since a lot of your work uses Photo-Manipulation techniques, that means that you have to look through a lot of stock photography. Give us a couple of your favorite websites for stocks.
My Favorite is ShutterStock, love that site, and recommend it to all.
5. Who would you say are your designing Hero’s, meaning artists that you look up to; and also tell us why you feel this way about them, what makes them special?
First off the legend Fatoe. I admire where he came from, his style, his attitude. All of those factors make him in my eyes a digital De Vinci – all hail Mike.
Second is Cris Vector known for his Vector arts, this guy is so one in a million, with a flawless style and breath taking pieces.
And lastly is Sosio, a fellow Australian with a great set of skills, and some amazing artworks in the streets with a hip-hop genre.
6. You stated on your website that 2009 is going to be a big year for you, so give us a look into your future projects. What do you plan to do this year that will top what you did in 2008?
Well I’m a student photographer at the moment, so you’re going to see pieces made from my photography. This time it’s going to be my photos telling the story, and also as soon as I finish my studies I’m going to drop my biggest concept series but I’ll keep that on the hush for now
7. Thanks again for providing Psdtuts with this opportunity at interviewing you, any final thoughts? What would you tell other designers that hope to be as good as you one day?
First off thank you for the interview.
And I also would like to say to all the young ones around the world that want to go in to graphics do it and put all your heart in to it, there is no limit to what you can do, along the way you will find haters hating on your work, use that as fuel to be great, remember your world is what you make it, it’s in your hands.
For the record it’s sites like this one that produce great artist, so keep up the good work and the royal class tutorials. Much love and keep up the peace.
