The Typographic Illustrations of Marcelo Schultz

The Typographic Illustrations of Marcelo Schultz

Marcelo Schultz is a Brazilian designer and art director with a talent for producing fantastic typographic illustrations. His work typically has a 3D look and feel but is done entirely without the use of 3D tools or applications. In fact, Schultz’s weapon of choice is Photoshop. In this article we will take a look at some of our favorite pieces from his portfolio.

Nike – Just Do It – Experimental Project

Volkswagen "Bubble"

This piece is clearly not a typographic illustration but we thought it deserved to be featured nonetheless.

  • Angus Fretwell

    They are fairly horrible.

    • jon

I’d love to see your work. Please post a link.

    • Tru

I think his work is bloody amazing

      • http://www.mariosargeant.com Mario Sargeannt

        agreed!

    • Joe

Haters gonna hate. Don’t feed the trolls.

  • Captain Morgan

This work looks horribly dated already, and most of the examples are borderline illegible. 3/10

    • Chris

Some of us were taught cursive in school =D Kidding. Maybe.

I disagree. I scrolled through the page, purposely not looking at the captions, and I didn’t find any of them hard to read. I especially loved the first Nike one.

Amazing typography illustrations, they are all unique with great level of detail. Honestly I wish I had half of his talent :)

    Love The Skull of Rock!

It would be awesome to see the workflow that goes into these.

Would like to see a similiar tutorial on psd+ :)

Thanks everyone! Andre, that tutorial was made by me (BTW).

    • http://www.marceloschultz.com Marcelo Schultz (@schultzdzn)

I have one tutorial here! (I forgot to write this)

  • geir B Nystad

I used to like these, but now I am so bored of them, don’t interest me at all anymore

    • Mat

You got something better to show us?

  • Aldo Fernandes Azevedo

    Very nice!

  • http://mhow.org.org Khan

    Wow, It’s really great..

  • jonathan

I think these are really great whether you can read them or not. They are “illustrations” as well as typography.
Captain Morgan and Angus Fretwell, if you have nothing nice to say about this guys work, rather show us something better, or try and stick to using Helvetica or Frutiger as you obviously seem to like doing so much.
If this is dated or not, it’s still really great and so is all the detail. Well done.

    • http://www.marceloschultz.com Marcelo Schultz (@schultzdzn)

      Thanks!

  • http://www.tkstudiodesign.com Tomek

The first four are great. Good and interesting design, some disigns at the bottom aren’t that great. IMO some readability and usability issues. VW is great, excellent creativity!

  • Mike

    And where’s the tutorial?
    Btw nice designs :)

  • Dougieladd

Yet again, those who have no balls make stupid non-constructive comments on other peoples’ work. I for one think these pieces of work are amazingly good. Great work!

    • http://www.marceloschultz.com Marcelo Schultz (@schultzdzn)

      Thanks man!

  • Xull

Really love the artworks. All the colours, shadows and details are perfect! I can understand how much time and efforts to make those designs. Looking forward to know how its done! Especially the 1st Nike’ Just Do It and the skull of rock. :D

  • Nate

The coffee lovers and nike ones are my favorite.

  • http://wecreateyou.com wholmes

Love the color and details in examples. Thanks for sharing, very inspiring…

    This artist is super!

  • http://www.maiconweb.com Maicon Sobczak

I liked the details. The Nike and Rock themes are the best. Ótimos trabalhos Marcelo.

  • Simon Mckeon

They are awesome! I really like the LOVE. HATE. SEX. PAIN. one. The different shades of red create a very nice effect.

  • Natsume

This is an awesome collection of work, truly beautiful. I can’t understand how people can complain, it’s creative and unique. At least give some constructive criticism if you dislike his work. In today’s world you’re not going to have a successful career as a designer if your style isn’t your own style.

My favourite is ‘Coffee Lovers,’ great choice of colours and background. It makes me want to have a coffee! lol

Anyways great job, don’t let the haters get to you.

Marcelo, each one of your work is a gem. I simply find it hard to pick on any single piece and call it the best.
I truly envy your skills. You’ve clearly done a real hard work. And your work is going to be inspiring me for a very long time.

    Respect.
