i cant see painting here..its real

With computers and graphics software able to do almost anything with a photograph these days. It’s virtually impossible to tell if they are not just manipulated photo’s of the real deal… Unless they can show that the image is not from an actual photograph.. then I cannot say they are that great.. If however, they are the real deal, then they are incredible

      Agree!

    • Jeff

I agree Andrew. My thought after viewing these is that they are *too* good. They look so photo-real that it will cast doubt on the artist’s actual efforts. The other day I saw a “painting” on a popular photo site, and the artist claimed the work. A bit later someone posted a link to the source photo and it was near identical to the painting.

I think a lot of people think Photoshop has a “make painting” button, (and in a way in kind of does), but I do know how difficult actual digital painting is from scratch. So, if this artist is doing nothing but looking at a reference photo and hand painting these from a blank canvas, then I’m amazed at the work.

Then I stand corrected. .but that’s the problem with digital art (photoshop) it’s difficult to see the wood for the trees these days.. but having read the interview, it’s obvious that these are not just straight copies of photo’s and that makes them not just incredibly realistic… but AWESOME works by a very talented artist. Thanks for posting the link to the interview.. very interesting reading

Amazing work! The only thing I have to point out is that the blood splatters look cheesy. The blood running down from Hit-Girl’s eye to cheek is glossy. And the blood would run over her mask not under it. That mask was pretty tight. The blood splatter on Cage looks like it was quickly slapped on by a photoshop paint brush. So much work went into the photo-realism of each piece yet she can’t get the blood right. Just sayin’.

This work is just awesomeness itself!

I like the painted onea but its obvious the mike madsen one isnt a painting. Its blur filters in some spots and the face shows pores. Half assed that one.
