Since we have moved to WordPress, this site has really taken on a new element of interactivity. I have to say it’s been really neat reading through everyone’s comments and seeing people giving each other tips and suggestions. So I thought I’d take that one step further and ask you, the readers a couple of questions–three actually…
Before I get to the questions though, let me just say thanks for all the positive feedback! I had at first intended this site to just be an occasional tutorial, but there have been so many awesome comments that I’ve gotten kind of excited about the site. Already I’ve written the next three tutorials and they are on a posting schedule of one a week. And I keep thinking up new ideas now too
Anyhow on with the questions. Hopefully your answers will help us make this a better site!
1. Do you want to see occasional non-tutorial posts as well?
By non-tutorial posts I mean things like “11 Great Photoshop Plug-ins” or “How to Get into Flow to Make Your Work Better” and so on. Basically do you want to see occasional articles or just tutorials? Here’s a poll, just check a box…
2. What kind of tutorials are you interested in?
Mostly I write tutorials as they pop into my head for things I know how to do. This is why there is quite a lot of variety. Anyhow, are there any specific types of topic that you’re interested in seeing tutorials on?
Things like: Web Design, Photo Manipulation, Compositing Images, … etc Or even specific images that you’ve always wanted to know how to make…
Just leave a comment down below, and while obviously I can’t make any promises since I don’t really know how to do everything in Photoshop, I’ll do my best to figure it out!
3. Full Text or Partial RSS Feeds
I initially had full text RSS feeds, but then after a couple of comments I changed to partial. Now there have been new comments saying go back. So let’s answer this once and for all
By the way if you’re like what the heck is this? Basically RSS feeds are a way to keep up to date with what we publish. You just click subscribe on the right and put the URL into an RSS reader. Anyway RSS comes in two forms, either you get the ENTIRE article (full text) or just a snippet and you have to click through (partial)…

Like Fire G I also notice the side bar missing in IE 7, in my case I’m on XP.
Btw, why did get rid of the original brown design, this white background just feels totally out of place, the same with some screenshots.
hey…love these tutorials..
i would love it if yuo could do a photo realistic renederig of a cell phone…i’m a product designer and this would be so helpfull..thanks

hello,
i’m looking for a site that will show me how to produce agency-level Flash banner and homepage canvas work. does anything exist out there like psdtuts.com but for Flash FLAs?
i’m sure you’re all familiar with the type of work i’m thinking of:
http://www.ge.com/innovation/
http://www.akamai.com/
it’s those subtle, yet commercial-quality transitions, wipes, masks, etc…
any idea where to find template work or tutorials on the web for this type of stuff?
thanks!!

Hi there!
I’m interested in tutorials like the desktop and post-it tutorial.
Maybe a tutorial on how to create a pen or something else, things that i can add to the things i learned in the other tutorial.
I’m trying to create a complete desktop graphic for school..
greetings and thanks in advance!
Hi, great site and tuts btw.
Just saw this site showcasing Gisele Bundchen’s new environmentally friendly line of stuff….
http://www.ipanemagiselebundchen.com.br/
The main photo shows her in a “water dress” and if you browse the site a larger version “scrolls around” and you get to see it in detail.
I was wondering if you would have any idea/direction or even better a tutorial of how this effect (water smoke etc) can be achieved.
Hope to hear from you soon
Shan
Hi,
first of all – your site is really awesome and I like the tutorials very much. I would like to see how to make a professional stock icon, e.g. a server or a buddy like the msn guys or application icons as well – or these cool icons on mediatemple.net.
This would be very interesting.
Bye.
I have a tutorial request, can you explane how to make graphics like those on the CS3 boxes?
I mean these http://images.appleinsider.com/adobe-cs3-boxes-070325.jpg
Thank you!
Greets from Holland
An article going in depth on the topics:
Brush tip shape vs. Brush presets vs. Tool Presets.
and
Brush Opacity vs. Brush flow.
They confuse the heck out of me. I don’t understand why/when to use one over the other and their benefits/drawbacks?
It’d be cool if you did maybe a 2 part tutorial on Creating a Website in Photoshop, and then How to take that PSD file, and turn it into workable code.
Hello and thank you for such a wonderful, free resource! It is hard to find quality resource sites out there that don’t hold anything back! About your questions above, I personally would love to see non-tutorial posts. Tips, tricks, and tools are always welcomed into my forte of knowledge!
I had an idea of a tutorial.. One of the photographers out there that has a pretty big wow affect on me is Dave Hill. I thought it would be cool to do a tutorial on how to use photoshop to make your photos have the same affect as his. I have kind of figured it out and have a pretty good idea of how to shoot and then use photoshop to make images like these. You can see an example that I did with a self portrait.
This is a fun effect to use, and usually carries a pretty big wow factor. So, I thought it might be fun for you to do here!
Either way, thanks for the great tutorials and keep them coming!

I’d like to see a tutorial on how to create blurry lights. I’m not sure how best to describe it but I believe the look is created when you place a camera too close to Christmas lights for instance. Each instance of the lights become a circular blur. How is this effect accomplished in Photoshop?
I’d love to see you expand into Illustrator tutorials as well.
I’m dying for some tutorials on the kind of artsy teen text type… Like from the movie JUNO (hope that made sense). It’s really popular at the moment. Addicted to psdtuts by the way! Constantly checking for new tutorials.
I just found this site for the first time – no doubt it’ll be added to my list of most-frequented!
Anyway, I REALLY want to know how to create the Mac backgrounds that look like curled/curved paper. Thanks!
Can someone tell me, how to upload photos, in to PSDTuts Flickr group? :b
- Thanks!
Never mind! :b
Hello, I visit this website time and time again, some awesome tutorials and talent you have. Reason for my comment here is that, I came accross this website called Noodlebox a few days ago, and I’ve been attempting to do a similar type of background. But I struggle to get the layers to associate with each other in the respect of blending properly.
Maybe one of you guys could write a tutorial about it? This is the url by the way, http://www.noodlebox.be
Would be much appreciated if you could do such a tutorial.
I would like to know how the designer from http://www.soemone.com accomplished that “break up” effect of his legs and arms in his piece entitled “Jump Up”.
Thanks for your help and keep up the great work!
Hey Collis,
I wanted to drop a request for a really good old papyrus tutorial. I’ve seen some good ones on other sites, but many of them seem to be incomplete. Just my 2¢.
Thanks!
Hi,
I have seen on http://samjennings.com a cool effect which I would like to see as a tutorial. Click on the page, under the mainsite you see a link to switch the color to blue. Then you will see a cool background in blue. This effect I would like to know how it works!
Knocking out an image of a person with messy hair from a complex background is making me want to pull my hair out! I need a clear and awesome method to get hair off a background while maintaining the fine details of the hair.
Hey!
First of all let me give you mad propz por the site, it’s amazing… I’ve never found such top notch tutorials anywhere!
Now, the tutorial I’m looking for is for Tribals, but not the one you see on cars, what I’m looking for is more like the one you can see on “Sean Paul – The Trinity” album front cover, which can be seen here http://images.coveralia.com/audio/s/Sean_Paul-The_Trinity-Frontal.jpg you can see it right there, on the right side.
I’d really love it if you could show me how to do that kind of stuff, because lately I’m seeing a lot of that being used.
Thanks a lot in advance.

New to this site and LUV it!
I’m looking for a tutorial on how to achieve a particular text effect. I want to try and recreate the Pussycat Dols present Girlicious logo (specifically the Girlicious text). You can go to http://cwtv.com/shows/pussycat-dolls-girlicious/about to see what I’m looking at. That or kind of that Elvis in LasVegas look or a “name in lights” type of effect.
I take a lot of pictures at little league baseball games. The best pics are during warm-ups when I can get on the field. However, to get “action” shots, you have to take pics from behind a chain link fence. I tried using the tutorial of removing the chair, but it does not look that good. I would love to see a tut on how to remove the chain link fence from pictures.
Thanks!
I would love to learn how to make a shine glow coming through text. For e.g. you have the word ‘big’ cut out on paper and light shines through from the other side… hope it makes sense
I have been trying for a while to get this done but can not master it or get it right.
Hello
I love your site but wondered always how to make a ‘urban’ look, see.

I love your site!! I am a graphic design student at university of Maryland. In my classes we have many projects to complete and going to your site has really helped me with inspiration and techniques. Thank you!
I am graduating this May and I want to make a really stellar invitation to send out for my party. After looking at your past posts I notice really nice works for Christmas cards or Valentines themes. I was wondering if you could post a tut to help construct a diploma or a mortarboard and tassel, or even a “Congratulations Grad” tut… just so the ball can get rolling on inspirations.
Thanks for your time and i will keep stopping by your site!
Since I use PS all day long creating online and print ads I would love to see more ad or product based tutorials for online or print use.
Hi, would the owner of this site please contact me. I have a personal inquisition for him/her.
Hi, I would love to see the effect Top Gear use on their show.
Here’s a video of what I mean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-5fBtUxUDI
“First shot is the stock footage that was shot, the second shot is the same footage with a vignette effect added by the use of a transparent image added on top, as well as tweaking the levels to get more contrast, the color correction to give it a darker, more earthy tone, and finish it off with a slight de-saturation.”
I have no idea how to do that, can you please create a tutorial of the Top Gear effect, exactly as they do, some of my images really need that. I have searched and searched and found nothing close to the Top Gear effect.
Please try and create a tutorial. Thank you.

okay, i need some user/pro help. I am trying to make a logo for this project, “30 Years of Impact” is the tagline, circlular, and I want to make it look “heavy”. Like the 30 Years part is crushing the circle. How do you think I should go about that? I have been messing with stone textures in layer styles and the 30 years part looks heavy, but I think the circle underneath needs to looked cracked or crushed. Help please! I know you guys are good for it
