Envato (the company behind Tuts+) will be sponsoring the 2010 Annual Design Awards‘ ‘Designer of the Year’ category.
The awards present a wonderful opportunity for graphic designers to have their work seen by luminaries in the industry like David Carson, Chuck Anderson, James Verdesoto (designer of the Pulp Fiction movie poster), Nik Ainley and Laura Smith. These people and more will be judging entries.
The awards exist to discover and celebrate outstanding talents in the design world and to reward creativity with a meaningful honour. Entry fees – used to fund prizes – are low and a portion of the profits will be donated to Cancer Research UK. Every entrant will feature in the new Designers Directory, have the chance to feature in the yearly book that will be published to showcase the best designs, and have access to the website notice board where designers can promote their business, special offers, job vacancies and more.
The Annual Design Awards will not just be celebrating the finalists and winners of each category but will also be dishing out awards to outstanding contributions. The judges will select entries that they feel are truly groundbreaking and those participants will be honoured with an ‘Excellence in Design Accolade’ amongst other ‘special’ awards.
All finalists will feature in numerous promotions and media coverage and will gain global respect within the industry as well as receiving promotional tools from the organisers, with all winners receiving the glamourous trophy and additional promotions around the world.
What’s more, the organisers are giving all Envato Members a special discount to enter the awards. Tuts+ readers will get a 30 per cent discount on entry (enter here) using this promotional code: 22ENVATO30.

Its about time we seen one of these
Thanks :)
I’m not being mean but i think that a charity that cares for those with cancer would have been a better cause. Cancer research trys to prevent cancer, but they don’t do anything to help those with cancer already. those charities and very well funded so…
agree
so they should redesign that promotion up there cuz its ugly
agree
agree
agree,
The font and outline used for the “Rewarding excellence..” centence is dreadful. They should read more tuts+ ;)
agree!
haha i saw this a few weeks ago or something i don’t know why its up again didn’t read but i had exactly the same thoughts first time round. how can they be promoting design awards with such a poor design. the cancer research you can tell has just been taken off a white background you can still see it, the fonts are all over the place and the trophy looks half finished!
Why is the poster for a design competition ironically so poorly put together :/
ew.
ma che cazzo stai dicendo?
Well … why is the design of the webside for a Design award such a negative example … You can not even read the light grey text on the dark background. It really does not seem serious.
can you imagine the pressure that the person who designed this add must feel?!
designing a add for awards given to designers must be a nightmare.
try to participate, thank you!
hi cool
cool yea
I actually don’t see anything wrong.
you actually have no taste at all :D
Agree :D
Its a great oppourtunity
I`m agree too
Its a very great Design I like it and Agree on it
How many fonts have this promotional ???
they put that promotinal because they want to change the designer who did that…
the design is good but it should hav been moor great if the fonts is not all over the graghic
The website uses tables! The whole thing uses tables for the layout! And its a site for design awards!?
