Please let me know. May I use your tutorials to do my own pictures (which naturaly resemble your ones) and sell them (my pictures) to other people? May I do this with the help of microstocks (Fotolia, Dreamstime, Istockphoto, Shutterstock and others)?
What does really mean your phrase in the end of the page (“The effects and techniques demonstrated in tutorials on the Tuts+ network can be used in whatever manner you wish without attribution”)?
Please let me know. I expect your answer. Thank you, in advance!

If the price per a tut was higher, i’m sure the more skilled would more often. At such a low price point for the work it takes to write an expert tutorial, the cost for the time is simply just not worth it in many peoples eyes. I’m just reiterating what has already been said several times within the comments, but i figured you needed someone to direct you to that fact with a laser pointer or something else flashy to pick up on the obvious.

If you ever attended an art school you know how brutal the critiques can be especially when you’ve worked hard. But in those instances, the instructor is actively teaching students how to provide CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM that will allow the artist to move forward. What I’m seeing here in these comments are nothing short of abuse. And I like the suggestion to start tagging tutorials based on skill level but I also support comment moderation as well.

Some of these so-called experts should start writing their own tutorial and maybe we’ll see subsequent tuts follow suit. Enough with the complaining.

Perhaps the plagiarized tutorials should be on the PLUS account only, and let us mere mortals have the good tutorials that don’t get removed?

I agree with Woman (2 posts above). Most of the comments here are not constructive. I realize many readers/posters may be under 14, but if you’re on this site it’s a sign you’re willing to learn and improve yourself. Improving your grammar and ability to communicate with words are no less important than improving your ability to communicate with visuals.

If you’re not able to elucidate why you feel the tutorial is lacking, your comment is actually empty and pointless. Support your claim.

Oh, and words like “sucks”… leave them to the fifth graders.

I agree with NGP and Adam. Take the techniques, add your own images and creativity and make something YOU like. Give the guy and PSD tuts a break. This website rules, and it’s free!!!!! Keep up the good work PSD tuts!

Right. So I’ve read through a lot of the comments here and think the vast majority of you are being immature. Instead of ‘oh this sucks!’ or ‘what a crap tutorial’, give constructive criticism. Telling someone that what they’ve done sucks is not productive or helpful. I don’t know what the tutorial looks like as it has been taken down now, but I don’t actually care. If you see a tutorial that you do not think is efficient or even in the slightest bit helpful, instead of making the creator feel like trash over their efforts, say you didn’t like the tutorial and then TELL THEM WHY!!! It’s not hard okay? There really is no need for the low standard of comments and abuse left on these sorts of things.

Some of you feel we should give the guy a break, that he is “cutting his teeth”. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for people starting somewhere and begininng to learn stuff, and sharing their techniques along the way.

The point is this site, psdtuts, is more geared for advanced/intermediate photoshop users. Stuff you’ll say “wow” to. This isn’t a place for amatuer postings or articles. Atleast that’s how it was in the begininng.

That’s why there’s the “outrage”. I did have a plus membership but I let it lapse, and this is one of the reasons why. While 22 bucks for 3 months isn’t a huge sum, it’s not really worth it to get crappy college tutorials.

I would really like to see more text based and effect tutorials. Stuff that the .psd files actually mean something to download. I have the quick gold and metal text .psd files that I refer to repeatedly to get the styles from. Custom brushes, shapes, gradients, styles, textures, etc is worth the money monthly. If these kinds of things were posted repeatedly I would renew my subscription in a heartbeat.

As it stands now this is the first time I’ve been here in about a month, not because it’s all bad, just because there is no “must have” reason to visit the site daily. I don’t think you need to post one mediocre tutorial a day when you could post a couple high quality tutorials per week so we don’t have to drudge though stuff like this. Again I’m not really trying to bash on the guy who posted this, we all start somewhere, it’s just when you’re paying money to join an advanced photoshop site, this isn’t advanced stuff.

I just dropped 130 bucks for Advanced Photoshop magazine. That shows I am will to pay for quality stuff. Like one poster said, up the price to 250 bucks, and then only post a 2 or 3 tuts a week. It’s the same price really, except you now have high quality stuff, and people are willing to pay for it.

@Funkfish before you start telling people to shut up you should consider that the people who complained actually did psdtuts a service i.e. the tutorial was removed for breaking copyright. also we are letting psdtuts know that we want this site to keep to it’s high standards. if you don’t like that maybe you should leave the site and visit one of the many crappy tuts sites where people aren’t criticised and where any old plagiarised and useless tut is tolerated.

I for one would rather see this site remain high quality and full of inspirational tuts than let it descend into rubbish for the sake of not wanting to hurt anyone’s feelings.
