Author: Mark Mayers

Hi everyone! I’m an illustrator and print designer from Cornwall in the UK. I’ve been using Photoshop since version 3. I also contribute tutorials for some of the worlds leading creative publications. Head over to my website where you can see more of my work.

Create 3D Renders, Combine Textures, and Add Photoshop Polishing Techniques

In this tutorial I’ll walk you through a hypothetical brief on creating a magazine illustration. To start off, I’ll show you how to painlessly export/import Poser meshes into Cinema 4D, where you’ll perform a Boolean intersection and discover how Object Buffers and Multi-Pass renders can save you hours of post production time in Photoshop. Finally, you’ll learn how to transform a 3D render into something quite unique by building up its weight and density with some real-world textures.

Perhaps a bit more shadow needs to be at the base of the left ladder, because if someone was stood on a ladder, on flesh, it would leave slight indentations? Maybe?

Beautiful work. I may have to break open the piggy bank for a tutorial.

I am wondering, why is this considered a “sensitive subject”? Because it’s an anemometer in that poor fellow’s head? Because they are bald? (Although bald men are not sensitive, just uptight.)

(Sorry for that generalization, even though it’s true.)

    Happy weekend!
