Download Source Files
We have a new Premium tutorial from Sergio Ordóñez. If you’re wondering who he is then review this Interview he did on the Psdtuts+ site not to long ago. For this tutorial, we contracted him to create a unique character design just for the Premium Members to review his working process in creating it. So, for those of you signed up for Premium you’ve got a real treat in store. We also included wallpaper-size version of the final presented designs. I’ve already set one on my desktop.
Sergio Ordóñez
Sergio Ordóñez, the self-proclaimed genius behind SOSFactory, and pioneer in corporate mascot design for the web. You can also find him posting regularily at his blog SOSNewbie or on Deviantart at sergitosuanez.
SOSFactory Style Mascot Design in Photoshop
The tutorial is available as a download package through your Psdtuts+ Premium membership. The download includes the HTML tutorial files, the layered PSD as well, the English Version of the tutorial (we also included the original Spanish version as well, as Sergio first wrote this in that language and then had it translated). Below is the Final Image Preview of the completed character design.

Wallpapers – Final Presentation
The tutorial has a Final Presentation section in which Sergio presents some wallpaper-size designs. We decided to make these available to everybody. There are three to choose from below:
You can grab the wallpaper-size version with board here.

You can grab the wallpaper-size version without board here.

You can grab the wallpaper-size version with limited color palette here.

Psdtuts+ Premium Membership
As you know, we run a premium membership system here called Psdtuts+ Premium that costs $19 a month which gives members access to the PSD files for tutorials as well as periodic extra tutorials, like this one! If you’re a member you can log in and download the tutorial. If you’re not a member, you can of course join today!
And just in case anyone feels like discussing why we have a premium system, read this post! :-)

Wow! I looked at all this guy’s work and he is amazing. I really like your style. I really need to get a PLUS subscription.
WOW!!…Nice style and coloring!! SOS Factory doing some excellent mascot designs :o)
super cool, looking forward to trying the tut…nice incentive for people that haven’t opened up their wallet yet:)
Is this site even a tutorial site anymore? I mean really?
Cool looking dude!
Wish I had photoshop.
:(
Yeh this is hot stuff. Looks great and can’t wait to try it out.
Damn!! Looks great but i cant draw for shit so I dont think I would ever be able to do that.
I want more regular tutorials. I don’t want to pay money for a free site.
I´m from Brazil and visit the site everyday , for me it´s the best photoshop tutorial site. You have great tutorials , but i need to know one thing , now all the new tutorials will be PLUS ??? For 2 days , you guys posted 2 great tuts and it´s only for plus users. If this continues , i guess you guys will lose a lot of visitors. Unfornantly i can´t pay for the plus membership and i´ll need to go to other sites to get good tutorials. Besides this , congratulations for the site and the tuts.
i really want the plus membership. pipz this is awesome. i like SOS factory for a long time, now its my chance to learn their technique.
Sergio really rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i bow to his talent.
Ronald

Watches can be such a spoilsport at times!!
When you invert the image laterally, dont forget your watches. Because it shows your eye to detail. Sergio please update this images else it pinching my eyes man! You are the pro and I dont want you to make these mistakes!!!!
I love your work.
outstanding job here! great work.
Hello,
I’ve 2 questions.
1st: Do you need a drawpad for this tutorial?
2nd: I’m boycotting Paypal, what other ways of payment are possible in the future?
Greets from Germany!
yeah man i have to say i really hate paypal too i mean it just doesnt work that well, which other way can you pay for membership?
looks great – hope the plus readers enjoy it :)
Hehe… Ok, you’ve done it ;] I’ll buy Plus Membership :D
Quite an interesting character, reminds me of the “No Fear” clothing mascot from the 90′s.
Sergio is friend, and great artist, it’s good to see you using his work for your tuts :)
wow nice tut again, I like this one too. thank you for sharing.
Looks inspired by unreal tournemant 3
Woa! Two PLUS tutorials in a row – I hope this doesn’t mean that free tutorials will be in the minority soon!!
Isaac
Nice drawing. Great work!
Guys – chill out – I’m sure there will be lots of non-plus content coming our way ;)
Isaac, you should be happy PSDTuts give us so good content, even if we have to pay 9US$ month.
Do you know how expensive is hiring those artists?
Well done Sean, I have read the tuto and its trully amazing, really inspiring.
Ok. I’ve read this one. It’s great! Thanks PSDTUTS and Sergio for this tutorial.
There is another amazing artist I’d be happy to see a detailed tutorial from. It’s Elias Chatzoudis:
His site: http://www.elias-design.gr
His DeviantArt account: http://chatgr.deviantart.com/
He has 2 tutorials on his site, but they are lack of comments aren’t that detailed as I expected.
Hope you’ll be able to convince him to write a tutorial.
Anyway thank for the current one once more! You’re great!
Impressive !
Is there a way to pay for just one article? Because I really want this one, but I don’t have the cash to sign up for a membership just yet.
Awsome, theyre getting a lot more frequent! Keeping your customers happy is a good thing, i have yet to regret signing up yet. By the looks of it, I’m staying! Thanks for a great tut site, i learned so much so far. :)
Okay I am now a Plus Member. I just can’t pass this one up.
Is that Vanilla Ice?
Sergio is one of the best designers i´ve ever seen.
I wish psdtuts take care of him and show us more tutorials.
Congratulations, kindest regards
Looks like you could accomplish this by combining a few different tuts from his website. :)
Make an Envato subscription for $10/mo and I’ll sign up. ;)
Wow, after having had a look at this Tut, it’s worth its weight in gold. Sooo much good stuff in there, besides the tut itself! Wow.
I like the style, but it would be nice if the actual tutorial was available also
The best 9 dollars I’ve spent in my life. This tutorial is amazing and ingenious. Sergio is outstanding and his description is so easy and clean. Hats off for a great tutorial.
