Rockstar!

Well after two weeks of vacationing, I’m back online with a bit of a tan (it’s a warm summer over here in Australia) and wanted to make a quick announcement that I’ve written a book! Yes that’s right, a book. It’s about freelancing and is called How to Be a Rockstar Freelancer.

The book takes you through almost every aspect of freelancing from getting started to getting paid. It’s 212 pages and took us forever to write and edit. Despite me boldly claiming to my wife that I could write a book in two weeks, the final time was actually close to 8 months!

The book is on sale now as an eBook for $29 at FreelanceSwitch, and we’ll have a printed version for sale on Lulu for $35 in January. You can read the Table of Contents and Purchase the Book at FSw.

More Rockstar Titles

We are currently working on the next Rockstar title, How to Be a Rockstar WordPresser, which is aimed at Web designers looking to take their WordPress skills to the next level. Covering topics like how to make a custom theme, how to use plugins and features to achieve special features and CMS abilities, it’s going to be a rockin’ book!

You can sign up to our special mailing list to be notified when How to Be a Rockstar WordPresser is available and receive a special $10 off promo code. Just add your name and email address below…

  • Andrew

Dang I cant wait for the wordpress book! This one looks pretty interesting to, I would probably buy it if I could read a sample chapter to see what it’s like.

“Thanks Michael! I wonder if I can make a Photoshop Rockstar book :-) I don’t know what would be in it!”

This is a great idea Collis. I think you could use great tutorials and great Photoshop articles to make a useful Photoshop Rockstar book. Or maybe your own tutorials as you have a few really helpful.

Maybe some examples of great posters and Photoshop works, interviews and tips could make the book great.

    Just my idea. :)

    Also Congrats for this book.

Hey Grant! I have to say it sure is amazing, especially when you see it in physical form because its just so long!! I imagine if it was in bookstores it would be even more amazing, but I doubt that’ll ever happen :-)

  • Peter S.

Congratulations on your new book, Collis.

By the way, how many tutorials are submitted per week? I just wonder why it takes somestimes so long until there’s a new tutorial. Don’t you get enough tutorials?

So can we view it somehow first ? 30$ for a pdf that you cant read somehow is a hard sell. Publishing costs drive up price but digital is different. But Paper books to view at Borders Or Barns is great to tell if a book is worth the cost..

If the content and quality of the book is anything close to the level of this site, then it should be very good. I’m considering going freelance in the near future, so it should be an interesting read.
    Thanks!

  • Mr_LeE

Great job mate. you deserved a holiday and congrats on the book!

It certainly is a hot summer over here in Australia.

Nice to see such a talented Aussie designer (I’d like to say like myself but I wont ;) )

    I love your tutorials,

Wow, I’d really love to read the book, so as it has been said before, a sample chapter would be great. Will the printed version be available in germany? If so, I’d rather wait for it, I just prefer to have something to read in my hands than seeing it on the screen. Take care, Phil
