I love graphic design, becouse its a form of art. Graphic design is not all stars and shine. Its hard, it involves psyhology, business and many things that you have to atleast know,to be a great graphic designer. To explain my i love graphic design i have to explain how i understand design. Without it the world would be in a very ugly kind of state, becouse design is ant art of beauty, in involves emotion, beauty, getting the right message threw some kind of project and so much more. I love graphic design becouse i can be a part of the small part of people who defines beauty, creates new shapes and faces of it. And makes the world turn with something more than money, something that really matters and it is timeless. For me design, graphic design or art, is the biggest gift that man can get, and that is to create something that is timeless.

Geez.. I cant even begin to describe how I fell for Graphic Designing…
Ive always wanted to follow a career that would enable me to use my drawing skills and when my cousin suggested that I do Graphic Design after I finished my Matric cause I had no Idea what I wanted to do after I decided not to do Chattered Accountancy anymore, I decided to give Graphic Design a shot.
Luckily for me I went to one of the best institutions and I was blown away when I went for open day and saw what I could also be capable of doing after studying the course….

Design in general is wonderful because you can create anything, but it’s form and function. Aesthetics and usability…
( )Ryan May 25th
I love graphic design because it brings joy and excitement to my life. The things you can do with the programs are just amazing, it is always a learning and growing process for me and I know I must dedicate all my time to become a great graphic design. I want other people who don’t understand graphic design to feel the same way I do about. It is truly an amazing art form that gives so much freedom to express yourself in whatever you want. This is why I love graphic design
( )rad May 25th
i love to be graphic designer cause you’re learning every day
( )Bart May 25th
I always had something with graphic design. I really started trying out stuff when I was about 14 years old, that’s a little more than 4 years ago. I failed at school because all the theoretic lessons just weren’t interesting enough for me, I wanted more practical stuff. So I quit, and went to a school for computer science, where I am now. They teach us how to program. (e.g. make Windows apps, or webbased apps/sites.)
I do this for almost 2 years now, and in the beginning it was real fun, I thought this would be it, that this would become my job in a few years, but later on I changed my mind. I found out this isn’t exactly what I wanted, so I got myself new plans.
After this training (still 2 more years to go), I’ll go to a school for graphic design, which I’ll hopefully get happy with. I really think graphic design is the thing that attracts me the most, I read alot about it, and all people doing it just seem to be nice to each other, I like that.
I’ll post on twitter on about this.
( )Dave May 25th

I love to create. There are moments when I talk with my family members and I just take a piece of paper and I start to draw logos and web site layouts ideas. Is amazing how this thing happen. Actually I made some nice logos just playing.
The creativity is something wich is not a usual thing. Sometimes you get inspered in the evenings, sometimes when you hang out.
Another reason I like to design is because designing is like expressing my fealings and my personality. I love simplicity and this is obviously in my designs.
( )Sérgio Soares May 25th

Carlitos May 25th
Graphic Design. Phew, just saying it sparks off creativity. It’s such a broad field incorporating different mediums to form a beautiful piece of art to behold, however it also, perhaps more importantly, is a means of communication. The messages found within Graphic Design masterpieces can leave you at either end of the emotional spectrum. One piece can make you ripe with happiness, while another can make the cogs in your head turn as you think long and hard about the message presented, whether it be topical, philosophical or personal.
My love for Graphic Design could not be fit into one small comment, but I think the above paragraph shows the important reason for why I love Graphic Design. A good looking piece of art, is just a good looking piece of art, but when a message is added to it, it becomes Graphic Design.
( )Christian May 25th
I like the freedom I have as an graphic designer. Get my own creativity running and well, working on all kind of projects. It is very nice that the possibilities with printing nowadays are almost endless… I like the personal care where Uprinting stands for. Well they dont call it U (you) printing for nothing I guess
Uprinting, I think U rock.

Being a graphic designer, its more than just a job, it’s a way of express my emotions travelling in time and space, exploring my mind and the world using my imagination and exploring my creativity.
( )Designing it’s like jumping through a window and fly without restrictions. It’s the best way to communicate with myself and the best way to show the world
through my eyes.
Mikah Sargent May 25th
I love graphic design because it is a pseudo-psycho-analyzer. Let me explain. Every time you meet with a client, you are trying to develop a solution. You pick the brain of that person until you find something that they agree on. The colors, layout, and typography all have theories behind them, and you know what they are. You can use that to understand your client and figure out what future solutions will look like. You get inside of the mind of your client.
At the same time, you begin to understand yourself. The design workflow you use, your own personal brand, the weird ticks that you have, etc. They all become a way to find out what your personal style is and how that pertains to the way that you think.
Each time you create something, you open a part of the subconscious. The one pixel difference on the position of an element, or the one degree of rotation are windows to the subconscious.
I love graphic design because it is an understanding. An understanding of each human that you work with, and most importantly yourself.
( )David May 25th
The dynamics of being a graphic designer are vast. If it’s mocking a government or bringing awareness to a cause along with all the product advertisement and marketing in between, it’s worth it. It’s purposeful, powerful, and impacting to be such a one with the skills to provoke public reactions.
I’ve been involved and graphic design for quite sometime and have found it to be what I love to do, from the very abstract to the very complex, however, always full of quality. As a graphic designer, I have the ability to create a stir amongst the public or cause people to think deeply in private. Yet what moves me most is that I love what I do and it’s not only a discipline but a means of communication and a blessed craft.
Whether I win or not, I would like to say that I’ve printed with many companies and UPrinting is by far the best in turn around time, color match, and quality. Thank you for your services and unyielding dedication to the industry.

I aspire to be a graphic designer so as to be able to express my creative ideas in a manner that every human can understand in the form of colorful and appealing images and videos. It eliminates the language barrier that text based communication imposes and is more effective in that, a picture is worth a thousand words. A video…

I like designing and am wanting to become a professional graphic designer because of the fact that it is different from Art yet there is many similarities.
In both Art and Designing, you can see the emotion in the piece of work that the artist/designer has created, and how that they poured every single, last effort into creating the artwork or design, and that it is natural for them to be proud of it, after all their effort, creativity, and emotion put into what.
What I love designing right now is that you can let your imagination go free. Whether you want to create cool curves for the newest wallpaper you’re going to show or use on your laptop, or design something for the local community or an advertising campaign, it is full of surprises because it’s creativity+imagination+freedom.
That is what I love about designing.
( )Clemente G May 25th

I would like to become a better Graphic Designer because I like to be the goto guy for everything =D. This way I can really say Jack of All Trades ( Master of All ).

Graphic Design is not just a combination of aesthetically pleasing images and text, it’s about communication and communication only. If the idea is not put across effectively, then what use is it? Just a bunch of colours and shapes which look nice? It’s what makes Graphic Design rather difficult; a single misjudgement of placement could make or break a design.
Although I’m only 16 and may be slightly naive when it comes to this field, I believe I know what makes something compelling or ineffective. I aspire to be one of those designers who change the way in which people approach design; those hidden rules which aren’t set in stone, but which everyone seems to abide by.
Everything we see is affected by Graphic Design, which is what makes me so passionate about it. I love it.

I love Graphic Design because I like pretty things!
( )I can’t help smiling when I see gorgeus design, like the floral typography SM just posted. People like Stefan Chinof, Steve Goodin, Tom Lane and last but not least, Si Scott make my day every time I spot their work.
The reason I work with design is because I am striving to make stuff as pretty as the people mentioned above (to name a few).
When everything falls into place – pictures, shapes, colors etc. and you just feel it, and more importantly – when non-designers get the same feeling – that’s what it’s all about. Pretty things!
Omar May 25th

Was contemplating whether to join, but I guess I decided for it.
As the Ol’ saying goes: “A picture is worth a thousand words”. Graphic design is great as the design itself reflects the thoughts, feelings and skill of the designer.
Graphics design has the power to stir up a multitude of feelings and bonds. It gives colors and interpretation to thoughts and tell others about what you’re thinking without being very forward about it.
As a student and attempting to foray into such fields, such a giveaway is highly beneficial as well.

Designing is without a doubt the most creative way that I am able to express the “real me”. When designing any project, i am able to exhibit and share my thoughts and the and the core of my imagination with the entire world. With the technology today, there is almost nothing that you cannot create, and nothing that you cannot learn to do. Having owned businesses in various fields, i must say that the web design community is the most welcoming that i have had the pleasure to be a part of. Where else can you be friends with your competition, learn so much from others, an have virtually no limits in building your own creative empire? There is no self gratification like the feeling you get when you complete a project, and the community enjoys it just as much as you do. I personally think being a graphic/web designer is one of the most organically rewarding experiences one can have. And the best part about it is that it’s actually fun! The fun factor in all aspects of design cannot be depleted, duplicated or denied! And that is what separates this industry from so many others. That’s what makes being a designer so special.

Graphic designing ables me to crate a world of my own. It has no boundaries, no limitations. It is when my mind and hands work together to put that little idea into artwork. Whenever I design, I express my self through the design at the same time communicate the information i intend to tell. I love graphic design because it gives us identity as an artist.

Graphic design, for me, is all about taking the ideas and information to coexist with the abstract, the feelings and sentiments so that when someone gets to see the final result, that person sees the information you wanted to provide while feeling whatever you want them to feel. All of that can just be done by good graphic design, and that’s why it’s important for me.

I hope to go into Graphic Design soon because it’s a fun way to express yourself and create amazing pieces of artwork. While we don’t get the recognition of famous painters like, da Vinci, Van Gogh, or others, we have the privilege of entertaining the masses and that in itself is a reason to be proud of our (or soon to be ours) jobs. Now if only I had a Twitter account to post about this.

I love being a Graphic Designer because every day is a new experience. You never know what one will encounter from day to day. It is a very challenging and rewarding field to be in. It is a field where you can never stop learning your craft. Each day brings new chances to learn and new techniques to bring your vision to life.
Look around you. Everything you see will have some kind of design. The soda can you are holding is now a piece of art instead of just a cold aluminum can. That man walking across the street has a cool t-shirt on, the website you are looking at is full of art and animation, your favorite movie was visually amazing. All because of graphic design. Design makes our world not only more visually appealing, but also more informed as well.
Basically, I love being a small part of that. A small piece of the puzzle that makes our lives more enjoyable. So, when you see the next ad in your paper or online, or hold that soda can, think of me. I’ll be here at my computer smiling and thinking of you.

I have always been a graphic designer but I just didn’t know it. I was always the kid who was asked to make the signs for the Chili Dinner fundraiser at church. Then in high school, I became the editor of the student newspaper and did all the layout and illustrations.
( )Today I use my skills to create catalogs, postcards, ads and websites.
My favorite thing about being a graphic designer is the way it allows me to reach out to other people.
Greg May 25th
I don’t think that can really think of myself as a graphic designer…I’ve never really created something that I felt was good enough to share with other people. I think I just lack that creativity. Deep down, I am more of a linear thinker and have been programming for windows and the web ever since I was 8. Despite this “lack” of creativity, I see graphic design as something that I would really like to learn how to do. I have great appreciation for those really cool things that some people can make and I just think “Wow, that was made with software that I own; why can’t I do that?” But really, I probably could create it, or at least something close to it–I know how to use the software, but I just lack that creative spark. All of the tutorials from Tuts+ have always been very helpful and I always love learning how to do things I never thought were possible. I keep trying to learn it though. It just looks so cool.
I would love to, one day, be able to make something to brag about. I like art in general, but there was always something about the digital arts that really interested me. I just love that way that they look. Gradients were always something that just made an otherwise flat color look interesting, and I don’t think that I could go a day without using them. The tutorials on Tuts+ really opened my eyes to even more things such as glows and shadows.
If I won the $1000 for uprinting it would mean so much to me, I’m still in school so I print a lot of reports, posters, brochures, etc. plus my own personal things like business cards. Even though most of what I create has been “loosely” based on templates and tutorials, I just need to try and figure out what works, and what doesn’t.

Hi,
I would love to win this contest.
Why I like graphic design? Because it’s artistic and modern, you can create great graphics easily. Graphic design is universal on the web. It evolves very quickly and every designers have theyre own style. that’s why I love graphic design.
thanks,
( )Lauren May 25th
Graphic Design is LIFE COMMUNICATED. I LOVE IT!
( )creadionizor May 25th
Hey,
Why I want to be a graphic designer is because it is a job where you have unlimited potentials of showing your creativity. A world without graphic designers would put us back into the middleages. Where art was only simple and there was nothing real about it. Now graphic design has developed over years. It has developed into a colourful realistic but also non-realistic kind of buissiness. I want to be part of this continualy developing history. Trying new stuff and experimenting with colours, websites, photographs etc.

The one thing I love about being a designer is seeing your work in public or getting it from the printer, holding another well done job that you can be proud of. I love being able to see what I’ve done be appreciated by others who don’t even know what design is really.
( )Silas May 25th
I would like to be a graphic designer, because I like being creative. I do also think it’s challenging and a good way to express your thoughts.
I hope that I can go freelance, so I can be my own boss and sleep when I want to.

I started graphics design as a hooby around 3 years ago, now at 16 years of age I still enjoy looking and creating greats bits of art.
I even learnt web design in order to share tutorials, and help other users who are just starting.
Graphics design is going to be my life, I would like to get into uni (in a few years time), and hopefully do a graphics design course or a 3D computer game design course.
You can reflect almost anything you want via a piece of art, that is why I still do it, to put a smile on mine and others faces.

I love starting with a blank canvas and creating an image, website, video out of nothing – then again, I love taking an image, video, audio clip and tweaking it into something completely different. I am lucky that my passion is both my job and my favorite hobby

Design is a way of speech but also gives another dimension. Learning how to design will give art another dimension. Normal people look at art to see if it’s beautiful. However designers also look how it was made. Same goes for coding. When i see a nice website or application I think by myself how it would have been made. What did they use. Can it be improved.
But also it distinguishes us from other people. We have another special talent and skill. Something others might understand partially. But what can only be understood completely by fellow designers
I started 3 years ago to make my own signature for my forum accounts. It would make me recognizable and people would remember me longer.
Since then I’ve come a long way. Doing design and coding for others and myself. Maybe not for money but to be remembered.
I will follow a study design/coding in a few months.

I’m actually studying now in a Graphic Information Technology program at Az State Univ. I’ve always liked creating layouts but now that I’m developing my skills to create the content as well as the ability to put it on the web, I get excited when I think about it. I love the creativity it lets me have. Not a lot of rigid textbook assignments. I love the prospect of freelancing and working for a design company.

I love graphic design because sometimes a picture isn’t just worth a thousand words. Sometimes, it conveys an idea or a feeling that words could never get across as effectively. Design’s a form of communication that can tap straight into the heart.

I`m going to keep my reason for being a graphic designer short and sweet. I love creativity, I like to share. I express myself through design, and I enjoy interpretting what information others (ie. clients) would like to convey, in my own message(s) comprised of images, text, and a mixture of both.

I really like this website, let me tell you why.
I studied graphic design at Prague and than I took 8 months course in London.
Now i work in China. I was partly working in Hong Kong.
Designers here (in China) face two difficulties:
1. There are too many of us (most just someone who knows how to use Adobe software)
2. Clients who needs to be educated. If you want to sell your design, even you have bright ideas, You need to have clients who will be able to pay you for your nice job. In China Clients pay very little money.
Clients living at west, they know what they want. They are more less educated by all environment. Designers have to explain their ideas, its part of their job, but its not that difficult.
Designers here they need better education. There are very talented, sensitive people . But without prompt education. Not just copy and paste.
Thats why I like this website.
Its all online, so its almost for everyone. Just one computer, internet and software. This website can help you to have some good level of aesthetic and pretty good technical knowledge of software.
Now I like to be a designer?
( )Five years ago I thought: yes being a designer is just to be unique.
Its part of it. I more believe that it its how much do you care about each project. This is how much you can reborn at each project, how much you can share, how much you can dare to move all your walls and put all in to logic visual. There is always WHY in your design, but also it should have emotional twist. Believe in your sense, move your walls, share and communicate and educate.
That why I like this website and like being designer despite a lot trouble in China design today.
Chris May 25th
Unlike most, I will spare you of the long over-drawn out and over saturated explanation of what “graphic design” is or isn’t and just say THANK YOU for the opportunity to receive such a great offer through something as little as commenting on a blog.
( )Rolland Sebastian May 25th
When I first encountered graphic design, I fell in love with it especially in reading tutorials from the net. Graphic design inspires all of us with its unique composition. Although I’m not that professional in terms of designing but seeing other’s work really inspire me and give me the boost in creating my own piece.
I want to be a graphic designer someday but I’m not hopeful to be the best out there, just giving only the best I can so that I can also inspire others by my work and also to improve myself.
Graphic design for me is a modern day of art, it’s not made from painting with oil, ink, or watercolor. It’s made using softwares. Graphic design requires discipline with focus in your presentation and most importantly the clarity of your work to be able to express your message or feeling to others.

Graphic Design is selling your soul to the devil & throwing your checkbook out the window. No one besides fellow graphic designers will understand why you charge what you charge for your craft, and your client will never fully realize just how important you are. Graphic Design is learning how to cope with assholes and give them the subpar product they wont take no for.
Its a crapshoot job & i love it.

I first realized that I wanted to be a graphic designer when I downloaded a trial of Photoshop. I then came here to psdTuts and started to follow the tutorials. When I first started learning I would jump on the computer as fast as I could get home from school and be up into the break of dawn often getting only 4-5 hours of sleep a day. I would daydream about ideas of designs I could make.
From then on I’ve checked psdTuts and all the other Tuts+ sites sometimes 3-4 times a day to see if any new tutorials have been posted. I have recently started to learn how to use Illustrator and After Effects and I have to say I am having some great fun with it. Just by simply downloading that one trial has helped me realize what I want to do with my life.
After high school I plan on attending college for a degree in Multimedia Design & Development and then start my life as a graphic design artist! I would just like to thank envato for all your great writers and Adobe for all its great products. Because of you guys I have finally figured out what it is I want to do with my life. =D

I heart graphic design because it starts from something simple. A doodle created in class evolves into a masterpiece. A few clippings from your favorite magazine inspire you to start doodling or to start laying out a fictitious mock-up for later use in a(n) website or ad. With graphic design, something can start from nothing. You can spend hours building elements around a seemingly boring photo and after adding a few shapes, paintbrush marks and few filters and voila! You have a work of art. It is a journey that pushes the creative limits of our mind. It shows us things that we never thought our brain was able to imagine.

Graphic design is much more than a career choice, it’s the ability to influence, create, be inspired, and inspire others. Creating a design isn’t simply creating art, it is finding the solution to a problem, making one part of the world a more attractive place.
I have been interested in art as a career since I was in 6th grade, from there, I took every opportunity to learn more about it. Now, I’m in school, forming a business with my fiancé, and planning for the future. Now, it is my goal to create a studio and influence the world around me through combined creativity. I also hope to educate, providing part-time internships to local high school students.
So, I enjoy being a graphic designer because of the opportunities it gives me, as well as the opportunities I can give others. Let’s make the world a more attractive place.

Graphic design is the newest form of art. The fact that you can make something just as beautiful and familiar as a simple portrait or abstract painting on a computer is astonishing. I think some of the worlds greatest artists ( dead or alive) would/think not be bitter but rather astonished and joyful for this new age of art which we know as graphic design. Graphic design is amazing and a good chunk of my life and that is why i love it.

Graphic Design is something that people do because they love to express their feelings through what they love doing. They don’t do it because they want to make money, they don’t do it because they have to, they do it because they love it. It’s something that makes them happy, it makes them feel like they have a purpose, a cause, a reason. Graphic design is something that comes from the heart, all you need is the self-belief and creativity to do what you want. Graphic Design is something that could have been done in 5 minutes in MS Paint or something which took a few days in Adobe Photoshop. Its something we do because we want to. It’s something we do because its not what other people think of your work, but if you like it then thats all that matters.

I want to be a graphic designer so I could actually produce my designs instead of handing them off to someone else, because something is always lost in translation. Since it is my name/brand on the company I understand it better than anyone else. I can envision the finished product , but I often struggle with how to implement it. I often think of it like the difference between Mozart and a church organist – They can both play a sonata, but the final results are worlds apart.

Hello,
What a fantastic prize! I would like to start with my experience with UPrinting. I live in Belgium and i when i heard about the 1000 free business cards offer going on i directly started to design them to promote myself as a freelancer at the outside world! The system of UPrinting was great, i knew exactly what i was supposed to do and had no trouble! But there was only one problem, they didn’t do shipping to Belgium. I decided to send them to a friend in Florida who was comming to Belgium quite soon. The shipping to florida was about 8$ wich i payed with money i got by winning 20$ in a contest on Themeforest, that was actually the only money i got on my Paypal. With the UPS tracking system (which was new to me) i knew exactly when my cards would arrive. It was printed like a stroke of lightning! When it arrived, my friend brought them to Belgium and sended them to me. I couldn’t be more happy the day i got a message that the package was waiting on me at the post office! I jumped on my bike and fetched those cards. Since that day I haven’t stopped dealing them out!
Here is a picture of them. It’s a shame that i didn’t have more time to design them because i had only 1h30 left before the offer closed!

I actually apply for this contest because i can do so much with it! I would print for all the projectsi have together with this friend and colleague in Florida (currently about healty coocking, cards, posters and bruchures would be great!!

I actually forgot to say why i love being a graphic designer. Well, i think it’s simple. It’s because you can create in a special dimension like no other! You can create brain’s most powerfull posession, imagination! It just feels so good when imagination becomes reality. Or at least it’s on a real image, and not in some fog brain!
It feels good to have a idea and actually produce that idea. When i am able to create, my soul is at rest.
Thanks!

I’m a French designer and developer and I’m following you every day.
When I create a new application I would like the user like to use it. The application is fundamental but the interface too ! This is why I choose to be a graphic designer. I love this part of my job because It’s a fresh wind to my mind, to express nicely my world’s vision.
It’s hard for me to explain my mind because English is not my mother tongue, if you visit my photoblog or my website you’ll see what I mean.
By the way, I love photographies (I have a reflex) and I think this is a shape of graphic designer.

Design has allways been my passion and one of my greatest talents. I love the feeling of a great design coming together. I am quite young (16) and can’t wait to explore what the future holds for me.
I don’t believe that graphic design is a way to express my emotions. I guess that I view design from a commercial, but never the less, enjoyable and creative perspective. I work with design because I love it, and because I realise I have a skill which I can make money out of.
( )Christy McGrory May 25th
I love being a graphic designer because I can please myself – and others – while doing it. That satisfaction when you’ve just finished designing something is a lot greater than anything else than I can think of. Even better if who you’re designing for is happy with what you’ve designed too. I’ve learned a lot from this site, and as a matter of fact, it’s probably been the biggest motivator for me and I’m sure many others. When I see something on any of the graphic design sites of the Envato network that makes me quietly say to myself ‘awesome’ or nudge the person next to me even though I know they won’t care, I strive to create something as good as whatever it is I saw, overall making me a better designer. So for that: thanks. Back to the question of why I think I should win the money. I’m a student currently struggling to get by with school and funds and I think with this money I could invest and work my way up to the dream job of being a freelancer, or even writing for PSDTUTS. With this, I could get my work out to millions upon millions of people for their viewing, and just knowing that would satisfy me.

I love to show people what they cannot see with their own eyes, to look between the lines and show them how we can take an idea and run with it, and give people what they never knew they wanted, or never knew they could get, that is why i love being a Graphic Designer.

Graphic Design is more than a simple form of art to me. As I grew up I was exposed to street art such as graffiti and sculptures. Instead of just marveling at them, I tried re-drawing what I saw and learning the curves and angles that made them up. I have an entire storage box dedicated to my sketches from the sights I was able to see. It became a lifestyle to draw and view art differently than what was expected.
When I first was introduced to photoshop and other graphic art programs I just was overwhelmed. I thought, “this could be a new way for me to view things”. So a learning curve later I was creating abstract scenery which to be honest wasn’t too appealing to others as it was to me. I began to give up on the whole graphic design aspect until I thought about enhancing my old sketches within photoshop. I scanned one of my favorite sketches and placed it into photoshop. The pen tool, gradients, brushes, everything started to cooperate with my imagination and soon after I had a whole gallery sitting on a hard drive.
Now I’m waiting for an opportunity to show my work. With a thousand dollars I’d be able to show every piece of work I’ve ever wanted to show with the public. I’d do so through the internet and by affording someone to make an online gallery for my work. Things would start to look up in my direction.
Thanks for letting me share how Graphic Design has become my life. It has evolved from sketching from when I was a boy and I feel this is my opportunity to share it all.

I love being a graphic designer because there’s so much variety in the type of work you can do, we perform a service which realises and often exceeds someone’s vision for their brand or product.
You’re constantly evolving and honing skills, learning new techniques or keeping abreast of an exciting industry – it’s definitely not a run-of-the-mill job.
I don’t earn as much as my friends who are engineers or doctors but I don’t dread going to work either!
For me it’s more of a lifestyle than a career.

I love Graphic Design. Because Graphic Design is everywhere around us. And something which not appear like graphicly cool for someone might appear graphicly cool for another one.
In life you just have to watch and look around you to find tons of source of inspiration.
Graphic Design allows you to built your own worlds, universes, atmospheres.
Graphic Design is also a community of passionates and passionating people.
You can do Graphic Design on your computer, on a white sheet of paper, on the table of your kitchen with stuff from kitchen, on the street with what you find around you. Graphic Design is everywhere and you can design stuff everywhere with everything you find.
For all of these reasons, I love Graphic Design.
I’m sorry for my bad English, I’m French, living in Japan, little-by-little losing my English skills lol, and it’s 6.40 am

Designing has been a calling of mine since I was a child. I loved creating things, drawing my dreams. I used to make my own newspaper using just a couple of sheets of white paper and a pencil. I would then put in any news I could think of (made up or heard of on tv) and of course some “pictures” (also drawn by me). It had special sections like the joke section, weather section, funny caricature section etc (of course the composition would have depended on my mood that day). I published my “newspaper” weekly, I would put it in my house’s mail and wait for my mom or dad to read it.
Then I got to more serious stuff, like making my own science books, encliclopedias and atlases (but I would make up the facts).
As I grew up, I got to the real thing, learning photoshop and illustrator, going digital, learning about design. I would go on the net and search for tutorials, then try to reproduce them all. My passion grew as I learnt more, as I realised all the possibilities that layed before me. Now I design websites, magazines, catalogues, posters, flyers (although I didn’t yet get the chance to re-make my old “newspaper”
For me, designing is a pleasure and has always been, I am always thinking how to impress the reader and I always like to be original and stand out of the crowd, to make myself heard. And I do so by my creations.
THAT is designing for me

I love being a graphic designer for many reasons, for one I get express my thoughts through art and web design, I get to show people how creative I can be and I always try to look at life as a blank canvas where your mind is what makes everything happen.
When I first started off designing, I thought “wow”, could I ever be that good, looking at all of the interviews that is posted here with such amazing designers. But what I have learned from reading what they have to say is that, your design doesn’t have to be the best, once you finished it and you feel proud, that’s all that matters. Also you should always find your own way how to design; your own style and techniques.
I love trying out new things when I design and I look forward to being a very successful in the years to come, and hope that one day I see myself being interviewed by PSDTUTS.
Thank you and good luck to everyone else,

Everyday is a day I learn or see something new. I love this industry for the art and creativity professionals and amateurs a like put into it.
Graphic and web design is an ever changing platform. It is forward and backwards evolution. There is no reason why I as a creative individual would not want to be apart of it.

Graphic design is the ability to take something that is perceived in one way, and reveal a new aspect of that object. Being able to apply art, and effects, and shadow and light are sometimes overlooking the simplicity that comes with changing the perspective of an object. I love graphic design because it lets you as an individual evaluate the perspective of an object and rewrite that perspective for something symbolic.

graphic designing to me is more than just a hobby, it’s a way of life and understanding the world around me. Colors, Lighting Effects, Shapes, and Flow all mean something special and unique to those around us. why?simply because – graphic design is my fashion and i wear it with passion! I evolve everyday, learning new things i really love. But the uttermost satisfaction is when everything just falls into its place – a great design I’ve come up with and topped up with a really good end result in the printing outcome. The satisfaction of seeing yourself doing a really good artwork and outcome is like my inner self victory; winning a gold medal each time over and over again!

Although I doubt you’ll look this far down, I figure I’d leave my opinion. Graphic Design for me, is a method of getting escaping reality. Any thoughts or ideas go down on paper, and are brought into art through Photoshop and Illustrator. Since I began my journey as a graphic designer at the age of 14, I’ve found that almost anything can give me the inspiration needed to create art. From a yellow bus driving by, to a poster I see in Calculus class; it can all be inspirational to me. Even if all the artwork I produce isn’t exactly amazing, I try and I enjoy making it also. I tried to keep this short and explain what Graphic Design is to me, and I think I made it pretty clear. Unfortunately I do not have Twitter or anything I do promise to tell my friends
Good luck with the uPrinting, hope it all goes well.

Designers have power. Power to change peoples’ perceptions, ideas, attitudes in one great design. They change the world everyday. They can make it better, more beautiful and show the world the beauty we all have or they can show us what we overlook, ignore, and misunderstand. I have won one of the UPrinting competitions for business cards.
Unfortunately I am living in Australia, they wanted to charge me with over $50 for delivery. This is just waist of time. This company is hopeless. If you are puting a promo or comp out there at least make the delivery free of charge. Not everyone is living in US.
But for all other, please comment – maybe you are luck enough to live in US.
$50!!! I have imported car parts for less than that from US.
They even promised they would actualy send it to me for free, but then they refused it.
That’s the kind of PR they are after.
Anyway, five cents from me. Good luck for everyone else. I can look at UPrinting no more.

( )Khoa Nguyen May 26th
Why I love Graphic Design?
Simply and purely because I’m passionate about it. There’s many things in life that you enjoy and love, but I think there’s few things in life that you can truly be passionate about.
There’s a certain aesthetic appreciation that someone who is into graphic design possesses, but to be able to tap into that and hone that ability to not only use it for yourself but to begin to appreciate others’ work is really something that’s become enjoyable for me.
Its something that I wake up thinking about, its what I breathe, its the reason I’m swallowed up by work everyday, but really at the end of the day its the thing that I enjoy.
Anyway, thanks and would love to win this!

I am a graphic designer today because of my natural tendency towards nature. I love rain, clouds, green mountains from my early days of life. Thats the main reason for me to be a graphic designer today. And perhaps Every person who love nature, colors, watch everything around him with a creative eye. And say in his mind. Hey! the graphics on this boy t-shirt should not be like that. The color should be so and so, the swirls are not perfect etc etc.
These type of people have a graphic designer plus creative designer inside them.
That’s the little story of mine being a designer today.

Maybe it’s because my job is so boring but i get excited about working on outside projects. I am by no means the most talented graphic designer around but i love just much if not more than most.
( )Dave Ellsworth May 26th
Becoming a graphic designer has been one of the best experiences of my life. From an early age, I had always enjoyed drawing, doodling, sculpting, and generally anything involved in art. I can honestly say that for me, its one of the greatest jobs in the world. Where else can you take an idea from something as simple as just one word, and create imagery that will open up an entirely new world. There’s no restrictions, no formulas that you need to stick to, no equations that limit you. Its all based on your imagination.
Its like being a kid again. If you want to see what a flying horse would look like while jumping over the moon, its all just a matter of grabbing a pencil and paper (or in my case, my Wacom pen and photoshop).
Modern technology has certainly made it easier for everyone to get their ideas out to the world. Both with programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator, to global communication sites like Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter to name a few. No more are designers limited to a local coffee shop where only a few may see their work, we can now share our designs with the world.
Not only that, but with sites like PsdTuts+ an artist can learn about the latest techniques, get feedback from other designers, and along with UPrinting, today’s designers can take a design from idea to print in no time at all.
Its been a long time since I first picked up a pencil and grabbed a piece of lined notebook paper to make a sketch of something to make a classmate laugh, but being a graphic designer today allows me to make someone across the world laugh, cry, think, or just generally enjoy. When you can do that, it’s the greatest feeling in the world.
Win or lose, I’d like to thank PSDTuts+ for their continued effort in helping designers learn new techniques, try new things, and help keep the design field alive and booming when the economy isn’t. Thank you also to UPrinting for offering a great service, and putting together this contest. Often times with our busy lives, deadlines, etc… we may forget why it is we love design so much.

Being a Graphic Designer can take us to “unexplored worlds” like here… It’s a way of life, not barely a profession… Being a Graphic Designer is a union of behaviors and technics.
Graphic designers must see the world with many points of view, and so we live in a different world. We feel well talking about our job, with people who understand our job, and it’s because our perception is kind of “unic”. Altough, we fell good when we find another “unic eay of life”, another unic world point of view…
Being a graphic designer is more than all this, is to translate what we get, see and percept for people… and the more people like, the more we are happy!

( )Scott Holt May 26th
I like graphic design because it is art that exists for more of a purpose to me than to merely exist. It communicates, reveals, teaches and shares a person’s or more often a company or organizations ideas and desires. The message is the most important part to me of the graphic design process, and it is exciting to find the right way to express the message that is needing to be communicated. Sometimes there is a struggle to find the right way to express the message, but that is another thing I love about design, solving problems and learning along the way to find the answer.

It was graphic design or drive an ice cream truck in outer space, and NASA refuses to return my calls after the “Mr. Goodbar Incident.” The dream is still alive, but till then there are bills to pay.
( )sven May 26th
It would simply be great to have 1000 $ freely available to spend on prints that I could use for my art. Graphic design is neat, but it pays the bills itself, as you have clients you do jobs for or who get their prints themselves.
You can even get money back as prints for your business are marketing expenses. There are no clients when you create art unless you are already a well known artist.
Creating art is something that comes from inside, you do stuff you love and have to do, but you don’t get money for it upfront.
I’d love to be able to get a few huge sized prints of my digital works and photographies to have the foundation for an exhebition of my works.
Thanks for your time,

I love graphic design…and any design for that matter, simply because it lets me be creative. When I was a freshman in high school, I picked up a book on HTML just because I thought it looked interesting. I fell in love with coding in HTML but soon realized that I needed to know how to make graphics because a website with nothing but text is pretty boring.
As a result, I picked up Photoshop and have been in love with it ever since. I’m slowly trying to teach myself Illustrator, Flash and various other design (and video) programs. The thing that really makes me love graphic design is the fact that although I do it as a job, I have fun doing it. Very few people can say that they love what they do. I love it so much that i pretty much encompass my life with it. I open Photoshop everyday, i’m on design forums and blogs at least five times per day (including psdtuts!) and I’m always thinking in terms of design.
My old school notes always have some sort of web design sketch scattered all over. A lot of my ideas came about sitting in class listening to lecture!
I just think it is great how graphic design (and any design) is all around us and can be experienced by people everywhere. It always feels good when someone is like “Hey, you’re the guy that designed that website (or graphic)? It looks great!” That right there is enough motivation to keep going in this field. I love it

I love graphic/web design because of the form of creation. Unlike many art pieces design is so focused on interaction and communication of data. Each piece is more of a problem to be solved than anything. This keeps the job fun and exciting. (Though it is also the root of the frustration!)

Nice contest!+

Graphic Design appeals to both my left-brain and right-brain. I get to use my creative/artistic skills, but I also have to use my analytical communication planning skills as well. It involves marketing, and empathy. Graphic design is just such a diverse career that puts me in the center of the culture I love everyday.
( )Patrick Chenoweth May 26th
I have primarily been a web developer for the past 10 or so years until about a year ago when I decided I needed to better understand the design aspects of the web. Since then I found this website and many thanks to the great authors, articles and videos, I feel I have a much better grip on design principles. They have inspired me to continue to work on my design skills.

I want to be Graphic Designer because its kind of a joyful work. It’s challenging for me to creating something new (artwork), stunning other with our creativity, and yes, this job makes our sense of design (and art) increase.
I love this job!

I actually started out wanting to be an architect… I worked as a draftsman for a few years at a local Architectural firm and started realizing that I loved the documents more than the buildings themselves.
I fell in love with the idea of conveying a message to someone whom I would probably never meet. That they would take something I created out of pen and ink, and turn it into something tangible.
I wasn’t sure what exactly it was that fascinated me about it, but as I started to absorb more and more of the design culture through magazines, books, exhibits, and shows, I started to realize the fascination was with visual communication.
Once this revelation was fully realized, I was hooked and began to look at things not just as cool pieces of art or design, but how well it communicated a thought or an emotion out of text, imagery, and placement.
Now, it’s as much of a curse as a blessing. Even if I wasn’t paid to do it, I would still design, create, and experiment. It’s part of me and part of my personality.
The trick is now to never stop learning, to never stop striving for perfection… all the while knowing and being comfortable with the fact that it will never be achieved.

Simply put, I love graphic design because it has allowed me to change how others see the world.
The world is a big constantly changing and complex place, but with graphic design I can make a little more sense of it for myself and others.
( )adigitalnative May 26th
As a newbie graphic designer, I’m still making my way in all of this… but I admit, some free printing would be very – very – very useful…

I love being a wannabe Graphic Designer because it is a truly dynamic and ever changing field of work that constantly keeps me intrigued. Sure, this can be said about many other lucrative careers like, say, a surgeon. But, in what other career besides graphic design do you get the chance to just completely experiment and maybe even start a hot trend of your own. Definitely not a surgeon, or any others that come to mind, with few exceptions.
Graphic Design is a career that offers me [nearly] full creative freedom, especially in my personal projects and pieces. I ask the question again, what other career comes to mind that allows you to do things that you love, and want, to do?
And at last, Graphic Design is simply a beautiful thing. I love it. I will find myself up at 3 in the morning just designing anything. 3 AM is the creative hour, as I like to call it, and here’s the question again: what other career comes to mind that keeps you up at night just for fun?
The answers to these questions might be different for others, but to me, they don’t even matter; Graphic Design is simply the only choice for me.
=)

( )Tylor Skory May 26th
Hello! My name is Tylor Skory. I have been into web development and graphic design since I was 12 years old. I am now turning 18 and still love it. It’s a great way to blend my artistic talents with my love of computers – specifically Apple computers
.
I plan on studying graphic design at a creative college and continue on with it for the rest of my life. I want to run my own company (I already run a freelance business that bought me my first Macbook and iPhone!) and I want to work for myself. Over the past few years I have been studying really hard (both on my own and with classes and tutorials), trying to just learn everything I can about the field, graphic design, web development and how to run a successful business.
I love to look back and see how much I have accomplished over such a small time and know that it is only going to get better with more practice and effort. I am so lucky to be in a position where I absolutely love what I do!
The community is also a huge asset to this field. I wouldn’t be anywhere without the support of everyone who has helped me. Whether it was online at some chat room or message board, they took the time to help me with my problems and questions. It’s been an amazing community and I really, really enjoy it.
Of course I will help spread the news on this great contest! I posted a link on twitter (http://twitter.com/TylorSkory/status/1927903620) and will be telling others via word-of-mouth.
Thank you for taking the time to read this!
( )Aakash Goel May 26th
I too love Graphics Design, as so many people here. When I think about it, the only reason that comes to mind is that while designing I find myself at peace, inner peace. Enough talk.
( )Graphix Design is cool [and probably my future] because:
a) it is cool. it really is.
b) it is challenging. it really is.
c) i feel that i can change/alter the design of this ‘world’ in an unprecedented manner!
Christy Slikas May 26th
I love graphic design because it allows me to express myself in ways I could not do so, and in doing so, help loved ones of the deceased create a fitting tribute for their loved one.

( )Misael Arroyo May 26th
Not only being a freelancer gives you more time to stay at home, enjoy your time and be with your family but it’s also about doing what you love to do and having companies like UPrinting helping you just another perk. I’ve bought from business cards from UPrinting before and I have to honestly say that the quality was perfect and scoring $1000 of postcards, posters, catalogs and many other services just makes becoming a graphic designer a better experience overall.
( )MC May 26th
Graphic Designing for me is like words that I could never express. When I have the chance to use Photoshop I feel like a kid again. Making graphics is so much fun and it keeps you out of trouble. I will always be grateful to all of the tutorial submitters here at PSDTUTS because they have been such a great help to me. Also this website was the first tutorial website I have ever visited and I thought it was great. I also think that graphic designing can be done by anyone no matter where they are from, what program they use and also if they speak another language. Graphic designs can be interpreted in many ways and are better than words in my opinion. So thats why I think that graphic designing is so COOL!

Being a graphic designer is awesome because I can affect thousands upon millions of people through an image or message that I create. It is an extremely powerful tool and must be used responsibly because people will be impacted by a nice thought provoking piece of work either positively or negatively. I love being a graphic designer because it is another was to connect with people and even overcome language barriers at times.

I absolutely love designing. Just seeing my work on sites, banners, business cards, letterheads, anything makes me feel accomplished. I remember the first time I did something pretty major for an event my friends were doing something big at, they wanted a logo to specify their specific area at the event. So I created it for them and it went on it’s way to the event coordinators. After the event my friends came back with a bunch of pictures. A couple pictures had my logo I designed on a huge banner hanging from the ceiling of this convention center. And when I say huge, i really mean it. It was massive. When I saw that on the banner, i ran down the stairs (I was only 17 at the time) to show my parents. It was one of the happiest times of my life. Just knowing my work is shown to the world to help express something in just a simple glance.. seriously the best feeling. That’s why I design, to continue to have that feeling.
That is also why I decided to start my own brand, making clothing that helps people express themselves and give a good laugh is just amazing. It makes my day every time I see someone wearing a shirt I designed knowing they love it and that I could put that smile on their face as they proudly wear it.

Well, I’m not a graphic designer. But that’s mainly because I’m still in high school, in beautiful Dana Point, California. However, in whatever periods of time that I’m not being violently schooled by ruthless AP teachers or getting into extracurricular shenanigans, I spend messing around with Photoshop and Illustrator, and reading tutorials like on this site. It wasn’t until a few years ago, when my friend showed me this crazy program called GIMP, that I learned that I too could create beautiful designs like the ones I always admired on ads and t-shirts. Well, looking back, I never was actually able to create anything that could be called beautiful, but it didn’t matter because this one program unlocked an entire new world to me. And now, I am completely enthralled in this world of design and creativity. Everyday I discover something new. There is, literally, too much information in just this one site, and there are hundreds more out there. Although I will still go to college and, hopefully, get a formal education in graphic design, there is enough information out there to teach yourself this art and be successful. I say ‘hopefully’ in the last sentence, because I’m still unsure whether or not I will study graphic design in college. I’m unsure because I don’t know if I’m good enough, or capable of becoming good enough, to stand out in the vast sea of spectacular designers. Whatever career I choose my passion for creating and admiring imaginative and beautiful designs and pieces of art will never dwindle. Overall, I love graphic design because it is the perfect outlet (in my opinion) for creative expression in all forms.

P.S. Being a high school student, there is much need for $1000 at UPrinting, so winning is not that important for me. I mainly entered because I felt like writing something. However, if I had $1000 at Uprinting, I would most likely make some cool flyers and stuff for my church high school group or for school clubs.
( )Alexis May 26th
The graphic design is awesome beacuse express my freedom, my personality, my identity.
( )Maria May 26th
I can say/type/spew the same mumbo jumbo keywords: express your feelings, messages, creative- while all is true, graphic art allows you to create art on another level. Do things that otherwise would be quite impossible to do on paper. Graphic art challenges new ways of thinking by using colors, textures, filters, brushes; the list goes on.
I’ve never been much of an “artist”, myself- meaning pencil on paper- in fact, I can’t draw to save my life. But, when I open photoshop, I don’t know, it’s, like, magical. I can literally spend my day on photoshop and the hours just melt away. It’s quite exiting to see the art I made and even more exiting that I can call it art.
Graphic design has challenged the traditional art world into showing that you can use more than a pencil or brush, you can use a computer, and, yes, you can call it art!
( )Artur B May 26th
Good Luck to everyone out there. Thanks PSDTuts and UPrinting for your services and contests

Graphic design is “ngised cihparg” spelled backwards. Think about that.
( )Josue Alonzo May 26th
Why do I like graphic design? It makes me think and create realities that only exist in my mind, it gives me freedom. I’m working as a waiter right now, but I just won a people’s vote prize in a global design competition, so I guess I may not be that bad
)
( )Graphic design is just my passion, is something that, at some point, I did for free to help some local charities. It’s just that addictive to me, and the best part is that I know that I still have a lot to learn and improve. The sky’s the limit! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!

Growing up my father always believed in my artistic abilities. During my summer breaks as a kid, he would drop me off at painting class three times a week and take me to art galleries in LA often.
I decided to pursue Graphic Design as my primary major. Today, I am an Art Director for a beach products company called Sola here in Santa Ana Ca. I manage our tedious quarterly magazine and annual price guide. You see, Graphic Design is much much more than a fun and exciting job to me, it is the heart soul of who I am. My father passed away before I began college and I owe it to him for investing in my artistic abilities and believing in me.
Graphic Design is fun, fulfilling, challenging and certainly a blessing from God.
Love it!
( )Alex May 27th

Design is a powerful form of expression and a very effective method of communication. I believe one can communicate the best using a visual medium. On the personal front, design gives me the freedom to express my ideas and thoughts without needing to explain it. I like to believe that I’m an artist. This drives me to constantly think about creating forms. It could end up as a lowly doodle on paper or installation in the drawing room. The point is that design lets you live in your dreams along with real life. It gives me immense satisfaction.

( )Kirryn Mountford May 27th
Graphic design is, in my opinion, more than art, its functional. From a business angle it sells absolutely anything, you’ll see huge posters displaying the latest cinema blockbuster to an advertisment for a new wonderbra and what will sell these is the eye catching graphic design which I always seem to be paying far too much attention to, and even feel that if I see something that is well designed I am more likely to purchase the product on a strictly ‘Good choice of designer’ level.
Of course graphic design is more than advertising, although that really is a fantastic medium to see it in action, the art that is created is absolutely stunning, at the best of times breath taking. The ability to create something from scratch with a computer program getting lighting, coloring, placment etc right resulting in a piece of digital art is a talent that will always be both respected and envied.

Graphic design, especially for print, is a chance to invent, or re-invent your identity and the way the world sees you. If you have a brochure or a business card that looks self- printed, or badly laid out, people you may be trying to impress (peers, potential clients) will remember that and not the snazzy outfit you wore when you gave it to them .. graphic design is the chance to leave a lasting glowing impression for your own or someone else’s business or identity. It’s the chance to be creative, slick, cool, hip, fun, whatever the “look” your are going for. And to be remembered for something that is part art, part science (okay, science of layout, theory of color … does that count?
and partly a piece of your soul. When you create, you include little bits of yourself in the things you make out of “nothing” .. an idea or pieces of scrap, or simply a color combination …. that is what draws me to graphic design (pun intended
the ability to create something engaging and fun, something that will hot a small piece of my soul long after I am not longer around to create more … There are so many possibilities, the only true limit is your imagination (well, and your budget… But who isn’t limited by that? Oprah?

I love being a Graphic Designer because bland is a disease I believe we can cure one design at a time. Besides the concept of being a functioning artist, I am comfortable with my head in the clouds and my feet on solid ground. Of course I’m motivated by aesthetics, but logistics allow me to excercise foresight and actually DO business…..not be done by it. Telecommuting isn’t bad either.
( )Jason McElweenie May 27th
Graphic Design quite literally saved my life. I knew I had always been a creative person I just didn’t know how to let these ideas out. Graphic design provides a forum that allows me to not only express myself but also work out all the problems in my life in a very non-violent way.
Graphic design has given me a purpose. Am I changing the world? No, but its helped me steer all of those tiny motors in my head in one direction rather than crashing into each other. I came into graphic design at the weakest point in my life. I lacked passion in life, love, family and friends. I gave up on life. Then all the pieces of the puzzle fell into place: My love of advertising and finding Photoshop change my life for the better. It saved me
I’m not a poet or a particularly good scribe when it comes to expressing myself but I know that graphic design saved my life. If it wasn’t for graphic design I wouldn’t be here and I like being here. Life is fun and graphic design is my life, my blood, my heart. I would be dead without it.
ps UPrinting kicks some major ass BTW. I’ve ordered some of my posters from them I am completely pleased with not only the end product but the level and ease of service. Nothing went wrong so I didn’t have to call or email them. That right there is a sign of a well run company. Thanks UPrinting

I love being a graphic designer because I like to draw, illustrate, initiate, renovate, and annihilate, and getting to do it for a job is just amazing. I love to learn, get better and improve myself, and it’s great to have a career where these things are recognized. It’s a chance to be unique, and be known for what I do, not who I work for.
( )Rob J May 27th
I like designing because it is both a challenge and an art. Everyone has different tastes. Designing for the individual keeps things fresh. I enjoy working with people, creating for a new demographic, developing my skill set, and theory, alike.
On a side note, I just moved into a house and I need to fill the walls with art. I’ve already commission friends and colleagues to make a contribution. Printing these works at no-cost to me would be fantastic!

Since I was a child, I have been fascinated by good design. While most kids my age were walking through Disney world enjoying the characters, I was studying the architecture, colors, themes and even the fonts used throughout the park. When I was 10, I discovered Photoshop after watching Burt Monroy on TechTV. Countless late nights were spent creating digital paintings, website concepts and fun things to share with my friends. To this day, everywhere I go, I study the beautiful patterns of design throughout my daily life.
Over the years, my Photoshop skills have slowly developed. Years ago, good, thorough Photoshop tutorials were scarce. When I discovered this site, I was ecstatic. I referred the tutorials to everyone I knew. PSDTuts gave me an explosive spark in my design career. As a 19 year old student currently attending college, I can say PSDTuts goes above and beyond anything you’ll learn in College regarding design or Photoshop. From the first month PSDtuts was launched, I knew it was going to become a huge success. The high quality tutorials on Tutsplus are second to none. Because of the detail in each article, other sites have been forced to improve their quality.
Unfortunately, being a student in this economy is not easy. I freelance whenever possible just to pay for food and my tuition. Recently, finding new clients has become even harder with the lack of business startups and tight budgets. If I want to continue my design career, I must advertise and market my services. However, this is not something I can afford at this point in my life. My career in graphic design is looking grim, and I hope to quickly find a way to salvage my life’s passion.

They say creativity makes a graphic designer.
I respectfully disagree.
I say its the graphic designer that “makes” the creativity.
Graphic designing, for me, started with an escape from academics and I see no reason why it should end. Though I have pretty much to learn, my honeymoon with designing continues!
Cheers for this contest!

How can you not love to be a graphic designer! You get to work with great softwares, do research and development on images and styles, get to be creative (the best part!!!) and imaginative. And best of all, it forces you to open your eyes to the richness of colors, shapes that surrounds you every day!

Well, I would say there are a lot better comments than mine here, but… I am obsessed with two things: skateboarding and graphic design. And my love for both is tied to the one major thing they have in common, and that is progress. Endless amounts of it. Every single day you can learn something new and it will never stop going. And I also love Chipotle, but there’s no progress there, it’s always great.

I really want to start my own graphics design label so that way I can have a career I enjoy doing, I can express my feelings through my art and also if it becomes a success then it gives me the opportunity to help my parents out who have given to me so much more than I could ever return. Winning this $1,000 dollars will help me accomplish that goal.

Hello!
( )Justin jones May 27th
I’ve enjoyed the ability to be a graphic designer most of my life. There are simply too many reasons to explain WHY I love being a designer, so I will try my best to summarize.
The overall and underlying truth of the matter is that no matter my position in life, my economic stature, or the chaos that busies my time, there is still one thing that I can call myself: a graphic designer. It’s not just a hobby, or even a profession, but a passion. Graphic design is something that I would make life incomprehensible without it.
I love graphic design, I design graphics I love.
( )Benjamin May 27th

LOVE to design because I am a frustrated painter that can’t paint! But design let’s me realize all those visions in my head.
( )Marcin May 27th
Why do I love being a graphic designer? Well..
I LOVE that sensation that runs up my neck and causes me to laugh like a insane maniac, when I create/design something that surpases my wildest expectations.
Haha, in a way, when that happens. I can imagine what Victor felt like when he created Frankenstein.
That amazing feeling doesn’t come too often because I’am a bit of a perfectionist but when it does, it’s simply amazing.
The last time that happened was when I created a Australia Day logo with a miniature VB can and Australian thongs. Haha

Small tip to other current and soon-to-be designers..
Being a graphic designer allows you to explore your wildest ideas. Don’t get bogged down in your day to day, sometimes spirit sapping work. Take some time and go crazy.

OOo, I like this contest!

tweeted this @nshdesign.
I’m a graphic designer because of something that happened to me in 5th grade. I entered an eco-friendly drawing contest for my local chamber of commerce. My drawing won the contest and was posted on a full-size billboard for 2 months on a busy street in my hometown. The potential impact that my drawing had on all those people driving by, was something I though was just outstanding. I decided at that point that I wanted to use my art to instill emotion into viewers and design for the purpose of conveying a goal, a purpose or even promote the solidarity of the world we live in.
Now, I’ve brought my design to Japan where I hope to spread and utilize my love of expressing message through design on an international basis. I feel that the world is international and so is the language of art and design.
If I won the contest, I would use the money towards a new line of custom-sized business cards, the printing of some large-sized posters that I will use at a public design convention I intend to participate in in the near future (www.designfesta.com) as well as some other promotional materials for the event and distribution to other international designers.

It’s easy to learn, yet hard to master. It can be a talent, or a skill. It can be art, it can be science. It can provoke emotions with the most minimal strokes. It is without me, I am without it, yet I love learning it. And best of all, no one or nothing can stop my brain from thinking graphic. It’s just all about design.

Graphic Design. The word gives meaning to my life: It lets me creatively express myself as a form of relatively reliable income. It allows me to fully enjoy my life because I can control how and what I create. Graphic Design can inspire people. It can move and inspire people to do greater things, and graphic design is the tool. Graphic design is what gives the internet and the world at large style. Without it, our live would be bland.
I got into graphic design to learn how to help make the world a “prettier” place. I can honestly say it has changed my life and how I view the world. And its through sites like this and convenient services like uprinting, that allow me to further my skills and further my practices.

I love graphic design because it is the one thing that I can use to express my creativity and have an affect on hundreds of people. Anyone can draw something in Photoshop or Illustrator but it takes a real graphic designer to put it together and create a masterpiece that is truly worth being seen by the eyes of thousands.

I only recently got into Graphic Design about 2 years ago, and once I discovered it, I realized that it was what I wanted to do. Now, a year of college under my belt as an Art Major in Graphic Design, I can see how much I’ve improved and I am constantly renewing my designing energy. I’ve never had so much fun doing something before, nor have I felt so accomplished and satisfied when I look back at the projects I’ve completed. There is always something to learn, something to create, and it’s amazing to see one’s progress. Graphic Design expands into literally every area of life, really, and that’s why it is so exciting, because it is one of the few industries that will always expand, exist, and affect people, not many other professions can claim such power.

I’m currently working as a graphic designer within a boutique advertising agency. In a small and tight-knit work environment one is required to take on more than just the graphic design. Although, that is my a favorite phase of projects as they come and go. Like any kind of work, it’s work even though it might seem like play, which makes for an interesting day (good and bad). Making a career out of something I enjoy doing, for my livelihood, is one of the greatest aspects of being a graphic designer.
Furthermore, being a graphic designer in advertising gives one the opportunity to make the advertising message more meaningful and effective using photography, illustration, graphics and so forth; that helps the customer meet their goals, which is to sell. It’s advertising and not necessarily art. So, there is going to be some compromise with design when dealing with constraints such as timelines and budgets.
Overall, being a graphic designer in advertising is rewarding. But graphic design can be applied to many other ways in the world we live in.

I love being a graphic designer because it’s an honest and respected way to be creative. I love it because I love working with clients and because I love to spend all day drawing. I love graphic design because it knows no geographic borders, income levels or social class.
Good design is just good design. It can come from any source and take you anywhere. That’s why I’m here…

Graphic design permeates the modern world. Look at the desk you’re sitting at while reading this. Look outside your window.
Message upon message, everywhere, inescapable.
Graphic design is everywhere, and it has an enormous effect on the world, and is vastly important to the people living in it.
“Hold on a moment”, some might say, “Take structural engineers. What they design has direct impact upon people’s very lives!
Or what about industrial designers? Industrial designers must design for ultimate usability, in tandem with engineers and others, to ensure our safety. Their contributions are much more important than some commercial.”
Which is of course true. In part. But the physical infrastructure, the roads, housing and transportation that engineers create, aren’t the only
things that mold our thinking. The information we are presented with, and in some cases even more importantly they way in which it is represented,
shapes the actions of people, their thinking, sometimes whole nations can be affected at once.
I don’t think I need to give you examples of this, they are readily available in our history books. But a message need not be political in nature to have such an outspoken effect;
Advertisements, websites, logos… A thousand voices, all clamouring for attention. Which one will be heard, and perhaps even acted upon?
The best design wins. Whoever wins, the outcome affects our lives. Consumer patterns bear upon the stock market, which in turn can influence national and even international policies. All because of logo design, branding, usability… the tools of our trade are tools that can shape the world in very real ways indeed.
Being a graphic designer can be an awesome responsibility.
But most of all, it is fun.

I don’t think I can really consider myself to be a true graphic designer, but I know I want to work real hard to be one.
I love designing. To me, it is one of those things that I can make my own.
To me, Designing is like an art. When an artist creates something, that artist puts a part of himself into his work. That’s how I feel when I make something. Sometimes my work can be great, and sometimes it’s not.
But I know that with every creation I make, a part of me goes into it, and just knowing that, makes it worthwhile.

Graphic design is a profession that provides an outlet for creative minds. Unlike artists or musicians, graphic designers produce beautiful work which is also practically used, whether to advertise and promote, to hold products or to wear. People don’t just look at your work, they use it, and seeing your work in use, whether on the billboard by the freeway, or on the t-shirt of a passer-by, is something that you don’t get in other career paths.
That’s why I want to be a graphic designer.
And it’s fun!

Hi, my name is Alexander, a 17 years old amateur graphic designer.
( )The reason I love graphic design is because I feel a strong connection to it. I love the fact that you can do a variety of stuff with graphic design, strating from just improving the exposure of light in different photos I took with my camera and ending up with 3D modeling as part of my graphic creation. I love how I can express myself with graphic design – The music I listen to, the mood I have at the same moment, and the feelings and emotions I have – All these affect my creations.
The reason I want to win is that I’ve been thinking for a long time to create my own clothing company. The idea was to print my own stuff on different clothes as T-shirts, pants, and later even shoes.
And that price that is offered here, should help me to print flyers, stickers, posters and all other stuff that can advertise that company everywhere possible in my city or even my country.

I fight to be a man without limits, to wake up in the mornig and beeing thankfull that i have a new day to do something new , something that comunicates with people i don’t and for sure i will never know most of them, but i speak to them in this way.
Talking with people close to you as culture or as far this earth is without limits or baunderies and they understand you and what you want to transmit.
this is graphic desgin for me, and i want to live as a man without limits

Obviously, I love web and graphic design because of the fantastic feeling after creating something yourself and having others enjoy its beauty. Most of all, though, I love the community. There is no other community in the world that works together to make something better as a whole. Most industries work against each other. In this community, we all work as a whole, learning and teaching each other how to become stronger; this is why we all make the internet and the world such a fantastic place. I <3 it.

You wear many hats as a graphic designer. This is the thing that makes me love being one. I get to work with a variety of my passions including illustration, photography, typography, and a little web development on the side. It’s really the best profession for me and I had a little bit of help finding it. In fact, my father is a graphic designer doing the variety of work that I’d like to be doing in my own career. That’s not the end of it though… My little brother is also a graphic designer! He’s in the same program I graduated from just a few months ago. So you can see, graphic design is not only my passion, but also a family affair!

I love being a graphic designer because it forces me to better myself, something I produced months ago and thought was amazing becomes mediocre, the amount of inspiration around you is like no other profession, you can be inspired anywhere, and time and in any situation.
The bigger the inspiration, the heavier the push to your desk to create something you are ‘over the moon’ with in the end, something you will then probably look back on and want to improve on, and it’s no wonder with the resources, blogs, design publications and inspiration sites that are around…
It’s a constant movement of improvement, inspiration and enjoyment, I couldn’t do anything else…

I’ve been designing graphics for about 3 years now but I have never been the best and I know it. I have loved every minute of it, My graphics let me express my feelings in an artistic form giving others the option to enjoy it. No matter how much I have learned in my 3 years I have never stopped learning nor have I ever thought about closing my doors of knowledge I am always learning new things.

I love being a graphic designer becasue I think of it as the 21st Century form of art.
Throughout history, there have been really good painters, but as technology has improved so has art, so graphic designing is combining both art and technology.
It also gives you the freedom to express your mood, feelings or empotions in an easiest way.
And the best part of it is that there is no age limit! I am 15 years old and I can be a graphic designer!

Writing about graphic design is like asking a writer to draw about writing. I love graphic design because I always think with images. It’s only when I can express all those images through some form that I feel realized. So in writing this comment I keep thinking about how an image could be formed with these letters, the secret code I’m creating with all the second syllables, the unconscious instructions for the reader to check his window and get a glimpse of all the graphic design that is happening outside. I might even put links, to all my blogs, sites and all the shameless self-promotion I could remember and prove that I’m a genuine artist. All of those devices, all of those images would not describe the feeling that is designing; it would only show the level a dedicated, self-taught and committed to design someone can reach. I need that image, to surprise and inspire and you need to imagine it in these words, like something exploding in front of your eyes, all these tiny letters on the screen attacking the optic nerve and unleashing a electrical brainstorm in your brain. You need to see it with me. And you know I’m not a big writer so I could never describe that image worth a thousand words, that image I’m thinking right now about how I feel about designing. And yet you realized how much I love being a graphic designer
All the best

Hello guys ! There are many interesting stories here and all of them deserve a chance. I’ve read some of them and I was surprised to see people feeling the same about graphic design as I do. For me graphic design is a way to express myself, my feelings. It all started as game than became a hobby. In a short time I could do things I’ve never dreamt about. It’s a great feeling when finishing a project/work. I can not say I’m good or experienced. I’m still learning and I hope eventually I’ll get better at this. Why I should get this ? Well as I said maybe there are many people here that deserve this more than me. I can say that this prize will help me getting the resources to continue my graphic design study. I live in a country where the possibilities of graphic design aren’t the best. With these funds I could get myself the software and even the hardware I need. I need a new computer cause my old one is getting imposible and also a part of this money could help my familly too. Well I just hope that the one that deserves the most should win this. I know this would help me fulfill my dream. Have a nice day

I believe that to become a good Graphic Designer You must have two things first skills to use designing tool and second the creativity. And both of these things go side by side. If you are a good creator but don’t know how to use a tool to get what exactly you want then your creativity is of no use similarly if you know the tool very well but not a good creator of unique art then this tool skill would not go with you longer.
