Sneak Peek at Adobe Photoshop CS6

Sneak Peek at Adobe Photoshop CS6

In this video, Photoshop Senior Product Manager Bryan O’Neil Hughes gives us a sneak at Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw and Adobe Photoshop CS6. The most dramatic change that you will notice from this video might be the darker color of the new interface (although this can be adjusted). What do you think? What features would you like to see in Photoshop CS6 when it is released some time during the first half of 2012?

  • Quang

That is pretty sweet! Can’t wait to see more!

I can’t find the link now, but I hope the feature that cures blurry pictures. There was a video that went around from a demo of it a few months ago.

Dig the new layout. Can’t wait to see what After Effects CS6 has in store

This is so beautiful and creative. I like this very much.

    Looks great. Nice color schemes.

Looks pretty cool. The feature I’d like to see is the upgrades being cheaper :P

Looks good, would be nice if they made the infterface selector a slider like After Effects/Premiere Pro.
Cant wait for some more previews :D

  • Alexandros

I like the new colors for interface.

Also i want to see a search menu in Layer Window, for searching layers (usefull up to 100 layers :P )

Maybe more than 2 Layer Masks

I assume Adobe’s suite will still have things like the awful Illustrator color picker bar, weird shit happening all the time, totally non native behavior on OSX etc.

Also why the hell is the background color limited to 4 options instead of simply being a slider from light to dark? Adobe’s UI designers have always been hacks at best considering how inconsistent everything is between their programs and even inside them.

You can change the background color to anything you want, there’s an option below the predefined colors.

  • Andrea

    The new icon is awful…

    NEW PRESET BROWSER!!!!!!!!!!!

Right now you can collect brushes, patterns etc.
nd the only way to see them is if you load them in photoshop,

Or just make brushes viewable in bridge somehow.

I don’t like the color, but luckily it can be changed. Also the tools look kinda stupid, almost like bunch of toys, just like in PS Elements. But of course the most important thing is that it’s good (if it is).

this looks cool! Looks like they are also updating the app icon, as expected… I was just getting used to the current one. 8)

One thing that drives me mad is that you can’t set the file view to one setting and have that right across the board whenever you hit “open”. I like to have my “open” set to thumbnail view but every time I open I have to click the TN button ! I’ve asked on the adobe forums and they tell me that you can’t change the default…Arrrrrggg

Nice little sneak peak… It’s got me excited for sure. I can definitely see some benefits to being able to change the interface colors depending on what you are working on.

    I hate you adobe

  • Alice Melo

Some people go for make up, clothing or some “girly” things but I totally go for Ps CS6!
I can’t wait to have mine in hands, it’s gonna be awesome. :)

Is it true Adobe went back on its plan to charge previous CS owners full price for CS6? I heard this but was not sure if it was true. Anyone know?

The relationship with Adobe has definitely been a love/hate thing. They charge bundles for things that are free or cost considerably less ( think GIMP, Pixelator, Inkscape). The UI is often times wonky to use. Not extremely intuitive. And I get frequent crashes even on a brand new mac with brand new software. I have few other applications that act like this that cost this much.

Yes. That is true. They revised that policy. CS3 and CS4 users can now upgrade to CS6 until December 2012, I believe.

I think I am in love, Photoshop seems so much nicer with the darker interface as well… it feels a lot more updated and the experience definitely did feel more immerse giving the canvas area more pop than it ever had before. They should have made that default a long time ago… I still have deeply loved every single version of Photoshop I have gone though though.

Camera raw features look great as well, very powerful indeed — I can’t wait to get my hands on it all.

Maybe Adobe is able to correct the fundemental programming bugs. After neaby 30 years of development it should be possible to produce a product packet with the same shortcuts!!
Have everybody try to zoom in photoshop and than 1 min later in illustrator? Why are these simple shortcuts which are in all graphic or CAD systems the same so different.
Further, have you try to export things from Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop? Right there are different or no shortcuts (cmd-e).
And before trying to make a 3d applikation within a 2d graphic program I would try to integrate a autosave function like other software (Sktechup, Autocad, Archicad, Cinema, Word….)
With this hope I looking toward nex versions of CSs.

I’m underwhelmed. There need to be some pretty innovative and powerful new features to make an upgrade worth it. For CS5, I think the Content-Aware Fill and Puppet Warp functions make it worth upgrading because they add a lot of possibilities to your work. But if CS6 doesn’t bring anything new or innovative to the table, I’d say it’s not really a good investment. New color scheme options are not worth that kind of money if the program itself doesn’t do anything more than CS5. I guess we’ll see…

it would be pretty cool if it had a tip of the day when you start the program like ae.

  • unimpressed

wow, big deal. I hope they added something worthwhile cuz that was lame.

  • owen

anybody got any ideas on when they may release cs6

    • http://www.maximal-design.de Max

last info: release date: mid 2012
      thats what adobe says.

It’s looking good. We hope that upgrading from CS4 isn’t too expensive!

  • bob

I really really hope they add multiple slice set capability. I like to design many emails or web pages in one document, but I lose my slices from previous pages when I have to adjust them for the new page. Boo.
