A spot of quick site news, we've just added threading to the comments on all Tuts+ sites. So you can now reply to comments, and reply to replies, making for a more streamlined and coherent discussion. In particular it means seeing questions get answered will make much more sense!
The upgrade is thanks to the (relatively) new WordPress 2.7 to which we just moved. We've got a few other small site upgrades scheduled including linking Plus files directly on the tutorial page for logged in members (currently you have to click off to the Plus site) and finally getting our multi-lingual system working!
In the meantime, enjoy the new threaded comments!

Go threaded comments! Reply me and you can see how they look
We only added 2 levels of replies as beyond that gets a bit confusing I think.

Really loving the comment design… makes sense. Was a gaping whole in the site which I noticed many a time in the past.
@Prydie
( )Florencia Bertotti March 4th
Very good!
( )Bernard Brown Smith The 4th Jr. March 4th

( )Anton Agestam March 11th
Sweet! And pretty smart to keep to the level of 2 posts.
( )Benjamin Reid March 3rd
Way overdue for a commonly seen feature ( and easily implemented
), still good none the less.
( )Chaos March 3rd
hmm, i think it’s useless.
( )Ben Griffiths March 3rd

cool idea collis!
( )lawrence77 March 3rd
nowadays psdtuts become boring!
( )Sirwan March 3rd
how so? *notice how im starting a conversation by “replying” *
lawrence77 March 3rd
i think like that!
something missing in psdtuts???
Tama March 3rd
Totally agree! <3
( )lawrence77 March 4th
you agree what? mr. tama
Wuiqed March 3rd
Great stuff! Now we just need an author’s comments to be highlighted in some way (like a different background) and the comment design would be awesomesauce!
( )RUGRLN March 3rd
Great idea!!! Also, dudes like Collis and all should have different bckgrnd so we knw a TUTS+ dude is talking to us here…
( )TheDoc March 3rd
I completely agree with that, makes things even easier to follow.
( )Steve Forbes March 4th
Yeah I like that idea, saves putting effort into searching authors comments! lol
[/lazy]
( )grazz March 3rd
Sounds cool, but it looks like it needs a little css-ing.
( )Sirwan March 3rd
agreed I think the reply boxes are a little too big. its still cool though
( )Craigsnedeker March 3rd
Wow its confusing!
( )Craigsnedeker March 3rd
The images are sort out of wack unless they are supossed to be.
( )Alvaro March 3rd
It’s a great feature, maybe the avatars should be smaller on the reply threads, to avoid confusions, just an idea;)
( )Alvaro March 3rd
forget my previous comment, my Firefox was working on cache. Actually looks pretty well
( )lawrence77 March 4th
your gavator was cool man! and also tutorials!
( )robby March 3rd
I love bacon!
Oh and good job Collis!
( )Misael Arroyo March 3rd
Who doesn’t?
( )Naldz Graphics March 3rd
Lol this is a nice upgrade:)
( )Misael Arroyo March 3rd
Indeed.
( )Misael Arroyo March 3rd
Really nice, it’s like a little forum =P
( )Bendsen March 3rd
Like Misael said “it’s like a little forum”
Have you guys from Tuts+ ever thought of a real forum? it could be real nice to be able to start discussion and post topics.
( )B March 3rd
I notice some major browser compatibility issues.
Google Chrome – does not thread at all, reply avatars are mis aligned from comment.
FF3 good
IE7 good
IE6 – replies and replies of replies do not display avatar, name, date, and reply link, but they are positioned in the correct placement but start displaying in the footer and go way beyond the end of the page.
yikess
( )Kurt Cruse March 3rd
Uh oh Spaghetti O’s
( )Oba March 3rd
Isn’t good in FF3 for me… it breaks.
( )Alvaro March 3rd
try cleaning up your cache
Phyo March 3rd
Alignments going everywhere in FF 3.0.3.
( )Safari 4 Beta seems ok.
Sirwan March 3rd
just noticed that, the pedobear ascii art is on psdtuts’s blocked list…
( )Saro March 3rd
This is very cool. Makes open discussion possible!
( )Steve March 3rd
Nice, I love this style

Maurizio Liberato March 3rd

Giuliano March 3rd
I’m a lumberjack.
( )Kurt March 3rd
And that’s ok.
( )Dullface March 3rd
I’m a lumberjack
( )Patrick March 3rd
hmmh, think it’s better when replies are collapsed, so that the user can expand reply-comments manually, when he’s interested to read them.
But generally the feature is nice!
( )Patrick March 3rd
haha, and i found a bug!
If you click on “reply” you write a comment as a reply. Okay, but if you click on reply and decide then that you dont want to reply on a comment and write an own comment by clicking on “Add Yours” you still write a reply to an existing comment!
xanvier March 3rd
test?
( )Min March 3rd
Cool
( )Craigsnedeker March 3rd
Ok the comments are way better than when I last posted ^_^ GREAT JOB!
( )Nigga March 3rd
hehe
( )Nigga March 3rd
i9m using FF3 1280 x 1024 and this is so strange to me , i think its not working, if it is, it got uglie !!!
( )dayday March 3rd
4 shizzle
( )AliasP March 3rd
Yeah, same with Shiretoko (FireFox 3.1b3pre) — Comments are misaligned, and I have no idea which ones are original and which are nested…
( )AliasP March 3rd
Update: Shiretoko displays it fine. I must have just pulled it up earlier at the wrong time. But after viewing in FF3 and then re-opening Shiretoko, it worked.
Very nice
( )Devin Rajaram March 3rd
This is a way better commenting system.
( )Lumzor March 3rd
My nizzle, nice system!
( )Joop March 3rd
You should make the (REPLY) an icon.

( )Synook March 3rd
It’s nice… but the comment rate could becomer much higher now, with comments such as “yea!”, “no way”, and “ok” much more common
( )lawrence77 March 4th
yea!
( )hiperkarma March 4th
yeshhhhhh!
psdwatcher March 3rd

( )bleh March 3rd

( )Spence March 4th
Broken in FF3
( )lawrence77 March 4th

( )Paris Vega March 4th
Cool. Good idea.

( )Liza March 6th
Sweet guys!! keep up the good work!
( )Qiming March 6th
Yay, new comment features. I love the comments already though
This just makes it better. Thanks Collis!
( )abc March 8th
this is very cool
( )Jeff March 9th
Awesome stuff!
( )Richard March 9th
Huh! I think you should make a bigger difference between the original comment and its reply…This is a little bit confusing. I recommend more css styles.
( )jenjen March 9th
cool!
( )Darius March 14th
Nice
( )Christopher July 5th
I love how the avatar appears outside of the comment box. And how the replies avatar is in the smaller right corner. How can I recreate this on my threaded comments? Changing the comment structuring in WP 2.8 totally confuses me.
