This is really cool. I love to watch cartoon animation. But now i can create a cartoon with this tutorial.

Sorry to throw a wet blanket on this, in spite of the great techniques shared, but the tut is fatally flawed. He states early on that using vectors imparts the ability to enlarge the drawing to the size of a 30-story building, but the instant he used a Photoshop brush to stroke his vectors demolished that capability. You’ll get jaggies a foot square, and a file size in the terabytes. Do the same thing in Illustrator, and you’ve got something. Right tool for the job.

You clearly weren’t paying attention. The cartoon was created for a specific editorial size, not to scale for any application. He specifically said knowing up front what the requirements were would dictate if he used either photoshop or illustrator.

You got me there, Tachyon. Still, seems to me he also said he doesn’t know Illustrator as well as PS. If he did, he’d realize how much more efficient it would be, even for these requirements. For instance, once he reduces a pixel-based illustration like this, it should never be enlarged again, lest it suffer degradation. Also, it’s so much easier to select shapes to fill, without even having to expand the selection, or add another layer behind the black keyline for the color fill. Heck, you don’t even have to fiddle with the Layers palette – just click items (a) or groups (v) to select ‘em. These few advantages just reduced your number of clicks by a third, if not more.
