WOW!!….These freaked me out dude!!!…Evil!!
( )Mark October 31st
No offense, but some of these are really crummy… basic Photoshop stuff. I expect better quality from PSDTUTS, some of these tutorials are great but most should have been left to the amateurs!
( )lookforme September 30th
I imagine that some tutorials are basic as not everyone has been using photoshop for donkeys years and is looking for a huge, outstanding challenge.
They’re doing their best, the fact that you can even get tutorials like this free online is more than enough to keep me happy
( )Williang October 31st
they are really spine-chilling and inspiring terror:)
( )kamel October 31st
stfu to loswl dumb message as always!
and
mannn, psdtuts is goin down, what the hell is it with all these interviews..articles or other bullshits, get some tuts dawgs, or dont post anything at all!
ya’ll wanna say “oh out blog is daily and we post everyday?”nahh it wont work like that, if the post continues to be silly, wasted up time, screwed up quality everybody will soon leave this site

( )dude am I on PSD Tuts ?
There might be a lil learning, but these listings are worse than interviews,
kafkat October 31st
Disappointing to see the quality of tutorials taking a downward spiral…

Great List
( )jbcarey October 31st
Hmmm this is a good list for halloween but…. some more tutorials would be nice.
( )GeirBNystad October 31st
Freaky stuff, but interesting.
( )Lubes October 31st
Some awesome; some lame, but great resource and all, so thanks.
@ kamel and others insisting on complaining about lists — do you have the time to go searching the net looking for all these tutorials? Because I have a job, and don’t have the hours to spend. Lists are popular for a reason — they’re really freakin’ useful.
Long live the list.
( )afrix October 31st
Happppy Halloweeeeen !

( )MiroARRR October 31st
@kamel : Dude.
You should stop blaming people for not giving you what you want, especially when you cant do better than they’ve done.
Just sshhh when you cant do better.
( )Gassa October 31st
Bad list guys…really poor effects
( )Joe October 31st
@ Mark & Kamel:
I agree. PSDTUTS is going down, they need to put some high quality tutorials up as soon as they can.
( )Some of the above effects are extremely amateur, and quiete frankly polite words cannot describe the quality of some of these.
Out of the 40, maybe 1 or 2 had a good final effect.
Ted November 1st
this is PSD tuts not 100 tuts from other sites get to work and if your not going to do a decent best of oct don’t bother, yeah I noticed all you put put vector, psd and net tuts in the best of section on ALL the tuts sites
( )Brian November 1st
There are maybe 5 tutorials on this list that are worth doing. These list should be about Quality not Quantity.
( )visions of 778 November 1st
NO!! its so true, most of these are not worth doing and pstuts is going down… i’m scared now!
( )Geoff November 1st
The old saying goes: “If you have nothing good to say, don’t say it at all.”
It should be the same for posting tuts… if there’s nothing good to post, don’t post it at all.
Awful.
( )Josh November 1st
The problem with most extreme makeover tutorials like turning people into monsters is that they look so unrealistic. I don’t think any of these tuts look real, like you could actually use in a horror movie poster for example. They all seem pretty amateur, which is cool for other sites, but psdtuts.com seems pretty legit for bringing quality tuts. Just my humble opinion, please put down the rocks….
( )Alan November 1st
The phrase “PSD tuts is going down” sounds ridiculous. True, very few of these effects listed are something I would even care to use, but come on, it’s a freaking list about spooky effects on a tutorial site. What did a lot of you expect? Asking for, or even offering better tutorials is one thing but then to go and say “oh, there’s been some bad tutorials – this site is going to die” makes you sound like an idiot. If you genuinely have something better to offer or think you could explain more effective photoshop effects, then by all means either submit a tut here or start your own site. I like the option of a site like this and if you can come up with something better then I’ll probably shift over to your site.
( )John bon Jovie November 1st
To all the peeps who are complaining:
You bloody suckers – These guys at PSDTuts are doing an awesome job bringing us quality tutorials and interviews and such. If you dont like it, who the friggin hell is telling you to stay on this website? Go get a damn life guys and stop complaining all the time.
I mean, wtf, it’s bloody free for gods sake. It’s not like your having to pay for the stuff so you ain’t got no bloody right to complain. Although the tuts posted by PSDTuts are aimed at more advance users, these lists provide tutorial for beginners and intermediate level users. It just shows that PSDTuts are catering for all levels of graphics design in some way or other.
I don’t see you guys taking the time to even write something useful let alone make it, so go, go and get a bloody life dudes. Nobody is forcing you to read these tuts, so who the hell cares if you don’t like em? PSDTuts aint made for you and you alone you selfish little dogs.
To PSDTuts and all the staff and tutorial writers: AWESOME WORK GUYS! KEEP IT UP!!!
Peace.
( )Diesel Laws November 1st
I agree with John bon Jovie.
There is too much negative already on the net. If you don’t like it, don’t comment.
This post is very handy for beginners and some for advanced designers. Thank you for taking the time to post these links to 40 other websites that all relate to horror. Much appreciated!
( )bangbouh stock November 1st
Creepy stuff. Happy Halloween!
( )Old man river November 1st
@ John bon Jovie
Just because it’s free doesn’t give it a pass on quality. Most of these suck. I mean, kids in their first week of Photoshop 101 suck. So no, while nobody is forcing anyone to read this post, several of us have and we found it to be uninspiring and uninformative. Sorry that’s so offensive to you. For what it’s worth, I’m sure the people running this site make money from adverting so it wouldn’t hurt them to try and produce stuff that is going to keep people coming back. Based on this post alone, I certainly wouldn’t.
( )Wes D. November 1st
Nice collection of effects…creepy…but nice
Thanks as always!
( )Wes D. November 1st
And just a side note about the negativity being displayed by some of the “loyal” TUTs readers…
I can understand if you are angry because you don’t get your way, maybe you weren’t hugged enough as a child, maybe your parents hated your guts and you feel you need to share it with everyone else…while it’s nice of you, we don’t really appreciate it.
If you haven’t noticed, PDStuts and the rest of the ENVATO sites are being created to help designers and inspire a generation. They do it with tact, style, quality, and respect…
Posts like this are meant to inspire and help out other designers and promote their contributions…they guys here at PSDtuts are not the only knowledgeable designers out there and they recognize others…which is what designing is all about, sharing your “stuff” with the world and getting recognition for it in a positive manner…
As was said by so many others…if you don’t like it don’t read it…it’s a simple concept.
Thanks again guys, and keep up the good work
( )digital_13 November 1st
LOVE these! Some are mediocre but there are a few choice ones up there that are just ‘effin awesome.
Perfect Halloween post! Thanks a ton!
( )Max | Design Shard November 1st
Great stuff, a few new techniques can be learned here.
(No need for negative comments)
( )highblood November 1st
Thanks for these great list! These would be very helpful for inspiring designers and beginners like me. I really appreciate the guys @ ENVATO where they cater their tutorials to all levels.
Feedbacks like “poor tutorial”, “bad list” and some irresponsible negativities won’t help. If you read a bad tutorial, email or post corrections in a more professional manner.
If you got a better list then put it up on your site and name it “BETTER LIST THAN PSDTUTS” so that everyone who goes to your site knows WHAT BIG LOSERS YOU ARE!!
( )Adam November 1st
Geoff hit the nail on the head, again, the lists are getting tedious, especially lists as poor as this!
As I’ve been saying for weeks now, but looks like the rest of PSDTUT’s fans are beginning to get bored of it. Come on guys, bring back the quality!
Adam
( )anon November 1st
@Diesel Laws — yes, because JbJ’s comment wasn’t negative at all…
In seriousness though, it’s not just about ’stfu unless you can do better’ — it’s a question of whether the psdtuts is meeting expectations of its readership. are psdtuts readers beginner, amateur, or expert? With a few very beginner exceptions, most of the tuts fit in well given psdtuts audience. So thanks author.
( )Andrew November 1st
haha alien head is funny
( )Kikii November 1st
Most of these are really crappy.
( )Skulluks November 1st
Once upon a time… PSD Tuts stated that they wanted to bring high quality tutorials and not be one of the many poor collections online.
By refering to some of the poorer ‘tutorials’ out there, this site is losing some quality to quantity and drifting away from it’s original idea, which I regret. Really guys!
I will however never regret visiting PSD Tuts. They do an awesome job at finding, collecting and posting interesting files that would take us -lazy people – forever to stumble upon. So thank you guys!
To all the negativos:
I get it, but relax, breathe, they still have good stuff as well
To all the positivos:
Welcome, now raise the bar a little
To all the people complaining about the negativity:
If people are not allowed to ventilate their issues on the way things are run, how can PSD Tuts take them in to account and use them to create a place where we all feel fulfilled? Only positive comments will without a doubt do wonders for their ego though… :p
Now go use the vanishing point filter to put things in perspective and… live happily ever after.
( )MarcM November 1st
@Geoff
Don’t tell other people how to run their blog, especially if you’re not paying for their content . Start your own blog and post what you want.
Yeah some of these are lame but who cares, it’s Halloween. Lighten up.
( )Ollie November 1st
This reminds me of when I browsed deviantart.com for the first time and found this stuff pretty impressive. That was in 2003, and this list seems to be from then as well.
( )They aren’t “effects” either, it’s called photo manipulation, and every single one you posted here is a terrible low quality example.
jeffster83 November 1st
I am an amateur at Photoshop, and I very much appreciate the easier tutorials. I bookmark the more difficult ones, to come back and try again in a few months if my skills get better. The examples in PS101 class always seem contrived, in contrast to many of these tutorials, which strike me as actual work that someone did.
Negative comments, on this or any other site, are useful only when they point out broken links, unclear pictures, awkward presentation, offensive content, needlessly complicated techniques, and the like. I’ve rarely noticed these kinds of problems on either of the Envato Tuts sites that I read.
Viva Envato!
( )Jiff Bean November 1st
Wow, absolutely amazing effects. thanks for sharing.
Jif
( )http://www.online-anonymity.kr.tc
Laurus Nobilis November 1st
Great effects. Broken Earth Face is the best. I would like to see some fire effects too.
( )Tom November 1st
Great list!
I’ll have to try a few of these out and see what I can do.
And to everyone complaining about the tuts on this list being to amateur, please think of this: what are the beginners supposed to do if PSDtuts only comes out with tutorials for experienced PS users? I’m not that great with PS, but I’m trying to learn, and these will help me learn how to do thinks I had never thought of. Just because EVERY post doesn’t cater to your skill level doesn’t mean you can bash the people at Envato. They are taking their time so people of ALL skill levels can further develop their PS skills, and on top of that they let us view it for FREE.
( )fractalfrog November 1st
I’ve been working professionally with Photoshop since version 2.51 (yup, I’m really THAT old
and would say that I know a thing or two about PS.
( )Yet, there is always more to learn and in the 6 months or so that I have been a PSDTUTS reader I’ve picked up quite a few gems from talented PS artists. (I guess you really can teach an old dog a trick or two. hehe)
However, as much as I love PS as well as Halloween, I remain as cold as a Zombie to this list.
Most of these tutorials are scary alright, but not for the right reasons…
I guess we were getting spoiled here at PSDTUTS and it’s good in a way to get a reality check and thus learn to appreciate the quality we usually find here.
A low water marker for sure but I’m already looking forward to the next one. (Can’t get worse, right? hehehe ;-P )
Happy Halloween everyone!!!
Ali November 1st
Some nice tutorials
( )aniva November 1st
oohhh evil ….yet nice effects
( )J November 1st
More bad than good tutorials. I expected better from this site.
( )Joe the Plummer November 1st
The blood trails is the best!! Nice work on that one!!
( )Ayc November 1st
Quality of tutorials arent taking any down spiral, dark art tutorials just suck in general (You cant expect them to be realistic). Though there are some good ones in this list too.
( )Midla November 1st
Very cool list. Gonna try some of these out for sure.
( )HH Shop November 2nd
Lots of good stuff here, but some of the tutorials did not deserve to be on this list. Especially those where important steps are missing. Anyway, thanks a bunch for the good ones
( )Nimeria November 2nd
Not intending to be negative here, but the quality of these tutorials and final effects are quite poor. Power to you if you can learn something from it, but I would’ve expected better from psdtuts.
( )Yana November 2nd
To all of you who say that “negative†comments should not be posted clearly have never dealt with being critiqued…call it tough love if you want. You can never become better when all you get is flattery (false or not)…… constructive critisism IS beneficial….just ask any REAL designer out there.
( )As of late I see more and more dissapointed readers, and that means that overall quality of the posts/tutorials is declining. Personally I agree with those who prefer quality over quantity, I would rather see less tutorials posted but of suprerrior quality than daily posts of poor quality. Same goes for lists, sometimes LESS IS MORE.
Free doesn’t mean not PROFITABLE, believe me no one is running this blog out of charity, so in order to keep the existing traffic and drive new one PSDTUTS absolutly has to cater to its’ readers. And how exactly do you expect to know how good of a job you are doing without HONEST critisism? Posting ONLY positive comment won’t help anyone scince eventually those of us who are dissapointe will leave. Saying things like “don’t say anything unless you can do better†or “don’t read it if you don’t like it†is purely childish…… try taking a real design class and see how that flies…..
Moreover I feel that critisism should be encouraged not bashed….. if some of you are entirely happy with the posts feel free to express it, but don’t tell those who are not to be quiet.
ntopics November 3rd
Love the demon girl and dark eyes.
( )Its amazing what can do today its
scary.
So much fun.
Bored November 4th
my favorite is the cracked earth face definitely.
( )agus November 6th
hahahaha, scary enough. nice collection
( )Ravengoddess November 7th
I think the biggest part of these tutorials could come in handy, and for more experienced Photoshop users, you can always add your own flair and complicity to the style.
From the ones I read they aren’t engraved in stone saying “You HAVE to do it this exact way!”, no most say it’s up to you. Why bash the creators when you could send them a message with creative criticism and feedback. Which would be better for you to hear, and encourage you to improve: “This site is beginning to suck, why can’t you do better?!” or “Hey, these tutorials are on the amateur side, why not help us experienced users and add tougher tutorials?” I know if I were the creator of a site I’d rather the second option because when you bash someone it typically makes them defensive.
Anyway, off the subject of the haters: I am an extreme novice with Photoshop, only doing minor work with editing, and unfortunately I no longer have it because my current comp’s too old, but I just might play around with Paint or Nero Photosnap Viewer to attempt to do a couple of these effects. I’m working on going to school to be a graphic designer so I may as well learn now to use what I have to try and do the best work I can.
Keep up the good work, and let’s hope I can figure out how to make this work!
( )Cifro November 7th
What relationship is betwen 28th point (Blood trails) and http://lady-dementia-stock.deviantart.com/art/My-Other-Bloody-Method-68725647 (or http://lady-dementia.deviantart.com)?

( )Omair Rais January 5th
coolest tutorials
( )liz January 7th
These are all pretty low quality, and tacky. Not good, not good at all. Embarrassingly bad on some.
( )Anon January 29th
Those complaining about quality … when it’s a themed list like this it’s meant to be a bit of fun for Halloween … okay, so some of the effects and methods aren’t the best quality, but they’re still entertaining. If you’re so boring you can’t even take a day off on a holiday to do something just for fun get back to work and stop wasting time leaving nasty comments!
( )basakbabies March 17th
am not getting sleep. photoshop hung. some weird noise comes from the mouse.
( )Wasim Rashid March 29th

Every once and a while I come back here to make myself feel better about my own PS skills. There are one or two here that are really good, but most of these are the worst jobs I have ever seen… NOT KIDDING. Its hard to pick which is the worst of all. Probably the Skeletal Cyborg.
oh, and
( )@ Wasim
I really hope you can do better than all of these guys or else you have not been working hard enough on your PS abilities for the last three years.
