Great collection, i love the modern illustrated versions, more than the painted brush effect ones. “Making of superbad” is a really good example, a contemporary replacement for the oil painted portraits.
I agree !
Kinda surprised the Fantasy Tree scene that was on here a year or so ago wasn’t linked to. I thought that was an extremely easy to follow tut, a really good place to start on digital painting.
Here it is, if anyones interested.

superb! Absolutely amazing. This will be a starting point for many people I guess :)
wow, really nice collection. but it need a natural talent to follow these tutorials. :)
Lies, anyone can draw. All it takes is patience, practice, and time. Anyone could learn to draw if they set their mind towards it.
Indeed, but not everyone has some kind of graphic taste. That’s why there are good and poor drawings ; )
Anyone can, but not everyone should.
Not totally true. It takes a change of perception to ‘truly’ draw. However, most anyone can ‘photoshop’ something, but that’s a different story.
Yes I think true.
Insane!
wow…
Looking great, definately gonna take a closer look at them later ;) thanks!
THANK YOU! Finally some real “digital painting” tutorials not photo manips!

I was wondering if anyone knew where i can find a good tutorial about how to begin painting in photoshop. i currently am running cs4 and dont even know where to start. all the videos i watch seem good but they simply jump right in and say grab your brush and follow along. i dont know half of where everything is in photoshop or how to make the simple effects such as painting where layering colors will change or darken them. It took me about 30 minutes to figure out how to actually make the brush paint in color rather than just a black line. mad props to whoever can point me in the right direction!
what i am saying is i am looking for a video that will help to get me accustomed to photoshop and where things are and what they do, but with a concept painter’s mindset.
