Hello! I started Psdtuts+ because years ago reading Photoshop tutorials was how I got into design. You can find me on Twitter or on my blog theNetsetter.

Graphic Design Week

To celebrate the launch of GraphicRiver's new Print Design Templates category we're putting on a whole week of graphic design tutorials on both Psdtuts+ and Vectortuts+. The new category means you can now sell your design work to make extra cash On the flip side if you're coming up short on inspiration, you can get a kickstart by grabbing a Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign template via GraphicRiver. So to give the new category the launch it deserves, all this week we'll be bringing you articles and tutorials just like this one, on graphic design as part of our Tuts+ Graphic Design Week.

Whats awesome is about half of the backgrounds can be created for almost exactly FREE using PSDTUTS and ABZUEEDO (sp?) tutorials.

Agree, and as far as I remember, Envato rules forbid to sell graphics based on tutorials.

I dont agree with these. Backgrounds that we can make just by the tutorials? agree with Edward.

Someone should register a domain and fill about 10k px by 10k px with that. I wonder how many machines would still be able to handle that load.

Oh, great. Another Graphic River whoring-out. PSD-TUTS mean tutorials, not cross-advertising for other sites in your empire.

Uggghhh, i so DONT care at all about this post. These are boring, too. *yawn*

I added a Twitter background to Graphic River, I hope to start a trend. I’m thinking about purchasing the web 2.0 backgrounds, as they seem to be somewhat of a trend.

Too those complaining, though I too would like to see more tutorials, this is Graphic Design Week, not Graphic Design Tutorial Week. I believe it is up to the discretion of the Tuts network to decide what they want published.

Only thing that sucks about buying and using these is that people will know where they’re from and/or they could see other stuff out there with identical elements. Might make a client pout.

    I’m a bit confused…

Don’t get me wrong, these are decent backgrounds, but let’s not kid ourselves here – most of them are ripped from PSDTUTS tutorials and PSDTUTS Staff blog tutorials. Does this mean we can use all PSDTUTS files and slightly modify them like the above and sell on as stock?

These are some very nice backgrounds, the ones I like the best are the Futuristic Background and the Abstract Wave Background. Choosing the right background when designing can really make a difference to your design.
