Vector Composite Effect from a Photo in Photoshop – Screencast
This tutorial will demonstrate how to take an image, in this case a woman’s face, and give the appearance that it is entirely composed of vector shapes. Along the way, we’ll use some fairly basic techniques, including clipping masks and displacement maps, to achieve a unique effect! – Bill Labus.

this guy is a legend. I’ve only been using photoshop for a few weeks but these tutorials have made learning really easy.
I did this tutorial twice and didn’t get the look your supposed to have. Bad thing about tutorials sometimes steps are missed.

Good Job; yet, why wouldn’t you just make a brush for your letters?
OOps I was watching the video with the typewriter… font effects, and didn’t realize it had kept me on the same page as the vector composite effect video.
He has this episode where he duplicates letters over and over again, instead of just creating a brush that can do the same thing based on pen input or recorded mouse direction; however, his method does give greater control over the individual letters if he was in need of it.
