did that, but then with adding the ”ornaments” you can’t get that behind the text

having a problem with step 13 and further! when I select all the text + birds etc. and i reveal the selection, I only see black and not the colours. I did try to hide that text layer but then later with adding the stuff at step 15, I can’t get my picture fully behind the text!
