This Premium Tutorial is Filled with Creative Tips

Retro design is enjoying a huge modern day revival – and it’s big business. Retro graphics are appearing everywhere, from T-shirts to print and web design. It seems the best way to get ahead these days is to go retro – so in this tutorial we’ll draw a heavy dose of inspiration from the 70s and create a funky poster with tons of retro appeal.

As far as techniques go, we will show you how to give present day images the vintage work over. We will use Illustrator to create cool type from scratch using paths and custom brushes. This is a comprehensive tutorial that weighs in at nearly one hundred steps.

  • Anthony

@WebGuide4U What?! If the beginners want to see the premium tutorials, then they can join!!

  • http://noir-badger.deviantart.com spiderm0nkey

Erm… Just want to know how you people without premium memberships can actually get off judging whether or not a tutorial should be premium or not. You can’t view the contents of the tutorial thus you can only base your statements off the final image. How many times does it need to be said? It’s not solely about the end result, it’s about the steps involved to get there.

I haven’t checked out this tut yet but I’m sure that there are a lot of helpful tips in this tutorial.

To splatter the psd with watermarks every inch is absurd for use by paying customers. I could understand if this download were free, but it is not for a premium member. If this continues I am not renewing my membership.

Has anyone done this tut? I’m stuck between steps 4 and 5. How do I get rid of the blue background? Mybe it’s something I missed earlier or something I don’t know because of my novice but I cant for the life of me get rid of that blue.

      Hi AJ,

When working with Channels, you need to highlight the top RGB composite channel before switching back to make changes in the Layers tab as the tutorial states.

I think this maybe the problem, let me know otherwise.
