Final Product What You'll Be Creating

Our culture depicts aliens in all shapes and sizes – but what would a creature from another planet really look like? Would it be the classic anthropomorphic, almond-eyed beings from the X-Files and countless Hollywood movies, or would it be so different from our own DNA to be totally unrecognizable? In this Psd Premium tutorial, author Mark Mayers will mix human and animal textures to transform a 3D render into a fantastical extra terrestrial portrait. This tutorial is available exclusively to Premium Members. If you are looking to take your photo manipulation and 3D rendering skills to the next level then Log in or Join Now to get started!

I agree, this does look cool. I’m not sure when I’ll have the need to make an alien portrait, but I’m looking forward to it! I might just have to make an opportunity :)

  4. John says:

    Oh Great one !!!

  5. mxl says:

Nice but why do we need poser to do this? If one doesn’t have poser should they bother? Can we not just use a 2d image of a model? And try replicating the textures?

By all means you can use a human photo as a base image. The techniques are basically the same. I got frustrated trying to find a suitable model photo, so used Poser instead. I’ve also supplied the 3D render in the source folder.

  6. Stever says:

    Wow! A Great tut.

I’m currently looking at poser. Would you know if Poser debut can do everything you described here in this tut?

    Cheers

  10. PSDDude says:

The idea of making an alien is good but the result doesn’t look too realistic, and I don’t like the blue eyes to much either. Otherwise I am sure it is a pretty nice tutorial!

  11. Stever says:

ummmm well I have to disagree with the last two comments.

Just finished the tut and in my opinion the end result is great and more importantly the tutorial is outstanding, learned a lot of techniques.

I look forward to future tutorials from you

    BRILLIANT MR MAYERS :)

  12. Graham says:

Great tut. I cannot find the texture folder when I open up runtime in Poser. I am using Poser 9. Has it moved or something? Thanks.
