		<description>Okay I was having the exact same problem with Step 5but think I figured it out.

First, I&#039;m using a CS3 on a MAC so in order to select the pixels I can either command click on the layer icon (not the layer itself or the text but the icon specifically) OR I can right click on the icon and choose select pixels.

This gave me a selection to work with but when I press the arrow keys it moves the selection (and the highlight) but does not resize or anything.  

If however I go do Select&gt;Transform selection first THEN I press the down and left keys it moves the selection but not the highlight.  I can then press delete and it leaves me with the sliver of highlight as shown in the tutorial.
