Very nice effect! Not too thrilled with the rocky horror lips, but the type looks awesome!
impressive…love the different layers of goop you’ve got on it! It’s so viscous! (sorry)
Very nice, love the glossy goo!
This is cool!! loved doing it!
WoW, super cool.
this looks like a nice tutorial! it kind of reminds me of one of the cover’s of a computer arts mag from a few months ago that was all about creative typography.
Cool tutorial. And that looks so tasty
Cool looking tutorial – I’m definitely thinking about signing up just for that one alone! It looks like the cover of the Computer Arts Typography Special.
The typo is all right.
The whole piece looks uninspired, though.
The perspective work is inconsistent. It looks off.
The mouthes are ugly and look pasted in. The lights on the lips are wrong.
I can’t connect to that piece at all. Sorry.
You aren’t supposed to connect to it at all, why are you even giving advice about the results of a brilliant tutorial?
Uh, I don’t know about you, but if you’re paying to view a tutorial one would expect to see a great finished result. The results are what show whether or not the author is good at what he does! I’m kind of tired of hearing the same excuse at tuts+ over and over–that the end result doesn’t matter. It most certainly does matter as it represents what the authors abilities are! If the authors abilities suck, why would I want to have him teach me anything? If you wanted to learn how to paint, would you pick the guy who’s finished art looked like a 9 year old’s finger painting or the guy who’s finished art looked like a Vincent van Gogh piece? It’s mind boggling that you guys keep using this same excuse.
With that said, I think the finished results are decent, but I’ll echo flyingfox in that the lips should not have been added, they detract from the rest of it and look like an afterthought, they do not flow with the rest of it at all.
Nice design and tutorials. Thanks for share.

Brilliant glossy typography tutorial, Great end result!
I like the effect including the glossy goo! and more so the tutorial as it opens up the door for other effects not necessarily the same type of finish. Thanks for sharing this tutorial
Hi.. I’m obviously doing something wrong.. but once I import the type into photoshop and try to do Step 20:
“without leaving the new layer create a selection by hitting Cmd/Ctrl + Click on the Smart Object thumbnail in the type layer and with the selection active” when I go to use the paint brush on the smart object type layer I get a black circle with a line through it and can’t paint on it. Would anyone have any tips for me for what I might be doing wrong? Frustrating to get stuck on this.. Thanks
please give me this tutorial please please please!!!!!
