This tutorial will take you through how to create a unique piece of digital artwork. You learn how to compose the 3D type and then add effects and imagery to achieve the final results. The great thing about this technique is the fact that it is very easy to apply to all sorts of neon lights. You can choose to make 3D typography, as in this tutorial, or stylized neon tubes in abstract compositions.

    You need to start with a much larger font size than whats shown in the tut…I had the same problem at first :D

    Aww… plus. :( I know that $9 a month is not a lot of money, but I don’t get a lot of money, so it is a bit much for me. Plus difficult to pay for these sorts of things without having a credit card.

    It’s soooo sad that we’re looking for cool tips that once we apply to our work will help us be better and in consequence help us make more money, and we want these tips for free!!! Man!
    $9 is tooo cheap for this, I’m a plus user and I’m learning stuffs that will up my ante a whole lot and fatten my charges. Besides, there are still lotsa free tuts that very nice!
    This tut can be applied to so many things….

    Yeah – step 2 is screwing me up as well. I’ve been trying to work around it all afternoon – just lost 3 hours. I paid for a membership for this tute in particular. Suck! :(

      Hi :)

      For thouse having problem with this, here is the following something that looks like it worked for me :D
      hehe….

      Before the 3D effect in illustrator. Apply to the text —> Go to Type –> Create Outlines.
      And than try to apply 3D effect!

      Hope this works out for thouse who have trouble fixing it!

    this is just a rip off. why they say its a tutorial. if the just want to show it the members than they should have just a members area.

    i am not interested in this. there are 1000 REAL FREE nice and good tutorials around and i will find something similar. there a so many type tutorials you can take them and modifie to this neon lamps. no problem…

    never ever…

    I really like how the text looks. The neon lights effects make it dreamy. I’m especially surprised by how realistic it looks. It did gave me inspiration for my business card especially the curves and color. I got my designer from LogoDesignStation.com to design for me the business card and it came out better than expected. Many people were quite amazed by the design. Thanks heaps for posting this.
