Are you new to Photoshop? Have you been trying to teach yourself the basics of Photoshop but have found the amount of educational material available on the net a bit overwhelming? As the world’s #1 Photoshop site, we’ve published a lot of tutorials. So many, in fact, that we understand how overwhelming our site may be to those of you who may be brand new to Photoshop. This tutorial is part of a 25-part video series demonstrating everything you will need to know to start working in Photoshop.
Photoshop Basix, by Adobe Certified Expert and Instructor, Martin Perhiniak includes 25 short video tutorials, around 5 – 10 minutes in length that will teach you all the fundamentals of working with Photoshop. Today’s tutorial, Part 9: Colour Correction Will Make Your Colours Happy will show how to adjust the white balance of an image using the curves adjustment in Photoshop and Camera Raw. Let’s get started!
Very nice tip! I did know about the curves tool but not about the eye drop thing! And also the comparison between jpeg en Camera RAW was amazing to see. Great work! :)
RAW files carry a lot more hidden data than a Jpeg because Jpeg is essentially a compressed file that strips you from Dynamic Range and other hidden valleys. Which is why it is essential to work with RAW files if you’re in photography business.
Once again very well done, I just look forward to each new one.
whoa, that dude is crazy looking
I hope you know who “that dude” is?
Is that the author? Or ??? Looks like a cross between Vincent Van Gogh and me.
I think it’s a picture of Vincent Price portraying Vincent Van Gogh.
What a nifty trick! Much simpler than I had anticipated. Adding it to my bag of tricks right away. Thanks, Martin :)
Hello
i´ve just started using photoshop so this kind of post is very helpful.
Thanks for sharing.
Excellent tutorial. I have been facing this problem while shooting pictures from my lovely HTC HD camera phone. It worked. Eurekaaaaa!!!
That guy totally looks like Van Gogh. Amirite?
wow its just crazy
BTW, who is that person in the pic? and nice tut.
That is one scary looking guy. Wouldn’t want to run into him in a dark alley :P
Great beginner tips though and would love to see a followup with more advanced color correction.
That is van Gogh as I suppose. I don’t think you could run into him in a dark alley now…
This tutorial was great – all your tutorials have been easy to follow. I appreciate you doing these, since I am novice at editing. thanks.
I think you mean “colors”.
Color is the American spelling of the word. Colour is how it is spelled in the UK, Australia, etc..
Colour!
thank you, i love this tutorial, very clear Martin
Very nice tutorial, thanks.
I always use manual curve adjustments….never trusted the eyedropper thingie. Probably because I am a painter and am used to mixing colors individually! Oh, and my money is on the fact that the “scary looking dude” is a depicition of Vincent Van Gogh in a wax museum. Either that, or Dennis Hopper dyed his hair and beard red for a part playing old Vinnie lol.
Video won’t load the other new one is loading fine though
Sorry must have been my cache just cleared it and it works now
Great tutorial. I like it very much.
very nice… useful knowledge to have, thanks!
Exceptionally well explained tutorial. This is an excellent tutorial for everybody
Another great tutorial, but where are the source files?
No source files for this series.
