    Illustrator is much more useful as far as guides are concerned. You can rotate guides, and you can turn objects into guides, this enabled with snapping and smart guides, there is nothing you can’t accomplish.

    There is also the rectangular grid tool and polar grid tool. Drag them out and while holding shift, plus arrow buttons, or ctrl plus arrow buttons to control how many segments.

    Just so you know Photoshop already has a shortcut for turning on and off the guides it is Ctrl : no need for the custom shortcut.

      Thanks John! Unfortunately that only works with English keyboards, everyone else has to set a custom keyboard shortcut for it.
