Building a Career Around Photoshop

Building a Career Around Photoshop

Do you love using Photoshop? Are you always looking for ways to improve your Photoshop skill and knowledge? Have you been searching for a way to turn your hobby into your profession?

I’m Martin Perhiniak, Certified Adobe Instructor and Psdtuts+ author, and I’m proud to announce a revolutionary way to take your Photoshop knowledge to the next level. I’m inviting you to join me for a fully interactive, 8-week-long Tuts+ Live Workshop.

The main aim of this workshop is to help you start your career as a Photoshop professional in any creative area you decide to choose. Each weekly session will be dedicated to a popular creative profession, like photo retouching, digital art, graphic design, web design, and many more. As well as introducing you to these areas, I will share invaluable industry secrets and techniques with you, along with tips on how to be a successful Photoshop professional.

Besides improving your technical skills, it is also very important to know how to build a portfolio, interact with other Photoshop users, look for jobs, stay inspired, organize your workload and how to prepare for the Adobe Certified Expert Photoshop exam. All this and much more will be covered in this Tuts+ Live Workshop.

Each weekly session will last two hours, running over an eight week period. You’ll have the opportunity to follow along and ask questions live during the course, complete a weekly homework assignment, download the resources from each workshop, and watch recordings if you’re unable to make the live session every week.

Places are strictly limited, so act fast to make sure you don’t miss out!

I hope you’re as excited about this workshop as we are, and I look forward to teaching you how to start building your career around Photoshop!

Dates & Details

The weekly workshops will be taking place at 6pm GMT (see this in your time zone), on the following days:

Introduction: Tuesday 23rd October

We’ll cover an introduction of how to become a Photoshop professional, what we’ll be covering in the course, and working through a technical lesson on understanding the non-destructive workflow, and using Adobe Bridge.

Photo Retouch: Tuesday 30th October

We’re looking at technical and creative photo retouching, with the technical part of the lesson focusing on customisation and masking.

Photo Editing: Tuesday 6th November

This week focuses on crafting some amazingly impressive advertisement and movie posters. The technical lesson is all about adjustment layers.

Graphic Design: Tuesday 13th November

We’ll have a short lecture looking at brands, magazines, logos, and much more! Then the technical lesson will delve into the specifics of organising layers, and using smart objects.

Web Design: Tuesday 20th November

In this workshop, we’ll spend some time talking about websites, banners, and interaction. Our technical lesson will look at vector shapes, as well as the type and pen tool.

User Interface Design: Tuesday 27th November

After discussing icons, UX, and interaction in our lecture, we’ll be spending some time crafting various interesting interfaces, and looking at the technical aspects of combined selection techniques.

Product Design & Packaging: Thursday 29th November

We’ll be talking about — you guessed it! — products and packaging. As well as designing a few of these ourselves, we’ll look at the technical aspects of file types and Camera RAW.

Digital Art: Tuesday 4th December

In the final session, we’re looking at one of Martin’s passions — digital art. We’ll talk about concept art and illustrations, learn the technicalities of brushes, and work on some amazing digital art!

We’ll be providing details on how to tune into the workshop to participants nearer the time, using GoToMeeting. If you can’t make a live workshop, don’t worry! We’ll be recording each session, and making them available for attendees the following day. So you’ll still have plenty of time to catch up before the next week.
