With that being said...I am stuck at the end. When I create a layer mask on the reflection layer and drag the gradient, nothing happens. I can't seem to create a fade in the reflection. I did everything step by step except I created a group for the "pencil" merge, then duplicate it and merge that group instead of merging the layers since I prefer to have them to go back on.
