Mix Cool Retro Curves Into Photographs

Oct 17th in Screencasts by Gavin Steele

I'm a huge fan of James White's work. I love the way he plays with geometric elements and colors. It gives a retro feeling to the design, but at the same time he uses a modern approach. In an interview, he mentioned that he uses a Flash script to generate the vector shapes. Then he does the rest of the job in Illustrator and Photoshop.

Well, inspired by James's designs, I decided to figure out my own way of creating that type of effect in Photoshop. In this tutorial, I show you how to mix cool retro geometric shapes into your photos - Fabio

Thanks for the tut. I would have like to have gotten a bit more description as to why you made certain selections when creating the brush.

Yip, pretty much the same. I much prefer laid out tutorials over videos because I like to be able to study each step in my own time. I quite often don’t even open video tutorials…

@mrflix & Jimi, you are absolutely right, this is the same tutorial as layed out before.

All the video tutorials are made as a support to those tutorials. If you check out the comments on some of the tutorials, some people are getting stuck on some sections. The video just gives those people a chance to see the actual steps in motion. They are by no means any replacement to the actual tutorials which go into much more detail and provide the ideas behind the concepts.
